Produziert von Sarakula selbst und zwei von Shawn Lee produzierten Tracks, enthält es zwölf neue Tracks, die auf einer breiten Palette von Einflüssen aus den goldenen Zeitaltern des Softrocks und der Disco-Ära basieren. „Soft Focus“ enthält die Singles „I’ll Get By Without You“, „Loved Up“ und „King Of Spain“. „Soft Focus“ dokumentiert in der Mitte seiner Karriere und vereint viele Einflüsse und Genres, darunter Soft-Rock, Funk und Indie-Pop, unter dem Dach seines sanften Blicks und einer „sanften“ Ästhetik. „Soft Focus“ ist auch der Name einer fotografischen Technik, die aus einer sphärischen Abweichung des Objektivs entsteht, bei der das Bild etwas verschwommen und unscharf ist: Dieser Effekt ist sowohl schmeichelhaft als auch nachsichtig für das Motiv.
