Audubon Raptor Encounter at WPWA | Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association
Jun 1, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Hope Valley
In a close, quiet setting at the WPWA Campus, educators from the Audubon Society of Rhode Island will share three birds of prey.
Razor-sharp talons, extraordinary strength, hooked beaks, and highly developed eyesight and hearing make raptors the rulers of the avian world.
Audubon Raptor Encounters are awe-inspiring events for all ages. Owls, hawks and falcons with razor-sharp talons and extraordinary adaptations fascinate both children and adults alike. Through demonstrations, photographs and biofacts, attendees learn how the structure and functions of these birds helps them survive. Predator/prey dynamics and the importance of habitat are emphasized as well.
Description adapted from ASRI.org. Learn more about their animal ambassadors here: https://asri.org/learn/ambassadors.html
As an audience member, expect to provide a quiet space with limited movement to respect the birds. We don't want to cause stress and discomfort. The Audubon Educator does engage the audience in discussion, and the animal ambassador can be easily seen from a safe distance of 10 feet or more.
Cost is $20 for non-members, $15 for WPWA members and free for Otter / Osprey WPWA Members.
Date and Time: Sunday, June 1, 10-11am (please arrive 15 minutes early, and quietly for birds)

Meditation & Reiki | Village Hall, Edale
Jul 19, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Hope Valley
You will receive a Welcome email with full info during the week before the event.
Men, women, LGBTQ+ welcome.
I invite you to join me for Meditation & Reiki. Whether you are experienced or an absolute beginner, these events offer you access to some quiet serenity, and to powerful healing energies.
Some people naturally drop into the quiet, inward space which meditation invites, but many people find meditating a difficult thing to do. The idea of sitting in silence and reaching some imagined enlightened state may not seem attainable. I feel you!
I will bring my many decades of experience of practicing meditation to the space. I use sensory awareness, conscious breathing and shamanic drumming, to support you to become very present in the moment.
This will be an opportunity for you to find a quiet moment of peace for yourself, to calm your nervous system, to improve your breathing and physiology, to access the advantages of meditating in a group (a more powerful vibe of deep calm), and to be open to receiving intuitive guidance from within.
I will guide you on a visualisation designed to engage your mind (away from intrusive thoughts of stress or worry), and awaken your inner world of sensing. There will be an opportunity to explore your inner world in a shamanic journey, meet guides, and to rest into stillness with the Divine.

Have you ever felt the presence of Angels? Sometimes we feel suddenly very safe and calm, or find a feather in an unexpected place, or feel a tingle, chill or warmth on the skin. I practice
Angelic Reiki
since 2009, and find it to be an incredible form of energy healing. I will share this with you in our group session.
Traditionally given seated, you may choose to lie on a mat (some will be provided) and bring cushions and blankets for your comfort.
You may choose to enjoy a full day out in the area, as this event is being held in Edale in the Hope Valley, which is a place of intense natural beauty.
Easily accessible by train. If you are travelling by car, you may park in the dedicated spaces at the Village Hall for the duration of the event (first come first served!).
