Every year during the Spring Festival, you can hear Chinese firecrackers, and dragon and lion dances are not to be missed in the celebration. In Nankinmachi, Kobe, the "Spring Festival" has been celebrated since 1987 (Showa 62). The main activities are:
Parade of Chinese Historical Figures
Wednesday, January 29th, from 12:00 to 17:00
Heroes of the Three Kingdoms and Yang Guifei, etc., dressed in Peking Opera costumes and makeup, parade in Motomachi Shopping Street and Sannomiya Center Street. 
Route: Nankinmachi→Motomachi Shopping Street (1st Street to 6-chome)/Tokyo Hotel Okura Kobe/Sannomiya Center Street (East to West)→Koigawasuji→Daimaru→Nankinmachi
Face Changing & Acrobatics
Location: Nankinmachi Square
January 29 (Wednesday) to January 31 (Friday)
Face Changing, also known as face changing, is a traditional art form of Sichuan, China, where the surface of the face changes in an instant.
Lion Dance
Starts at Nankinmachi Square
February 1 (Saturday) and February 2 (Sunday)
Lions visit shops in the town to ward off evil and bring good luck.

If you&rsquo;re ever in Kobe, Japan, and looking for something fun and a bit different, definitely check out Kobe Animal Kingdom. It&rsquo;s a super interactive zoo where you can get up close with all kinds of animals&mdash;think capybaras, alpacas, owls, kangaroos, and even penguins. A lot of the animals roam around freely in certain areas, so you can walk right next to them, feed them, and sometimes even pet them. It&rsquo;s especially great for kids or anyone who loves animals.One of the coolest parts is the bird show&mdash;birds literally fly right over your head, and it&rsquo;s way more exciting than you&rsquo;d expect. Most of the park is indoors inside these big greenhouse-style buildings, so even if the weather&rsquo;s not great, you&rsquo;re covered. If you want to explore the outdoor areas and it&rsquo;s raining, they even lend out umbrellas.The place gets a lot of love for how close you can get to the animals, but there are a few mixed feelings about the size of the enclosures for some of the bigger or more exotic animals.
