 featuring contemporary artist Jeffrey Gibson as guest speaker.
The Spring Luncheon brings together a passionate community of artists, scholars, collectors, museum directors, and distinguished professionals to support the AFA’s important work. Past speakers include Tschabalala Self, Sanford Biggers, Marilyn Minter, Jeff Koons, Anne Pasternak and Will Cotton, among others.
With several exhibition openings under way, and a variety of new projects on the horizon, the AFA remains committed to its mission of expanding arts access through touring exhibitions and a robust offering of public programs.

About the Artist:
Jeffrey Gibson
 grew up in major urban centers in the United States, Germany, and Korea, where he absorbed the transgressive soundtrack of the 1980s through limited access to MTV. Gibson graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1995 and received a Master of Arts in painting at the Royal College of Art, London, in 1998. While in Chicago he also worked as a research assistant on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) for the Field Museum, a formative experience that fostered an ongoing interest in questions of ownership and notions of cultural translation. Though trained as a painter, Gibson began incorporating materials and techniques that deliberately reference his heritage—such as raw hides and bead work—around 2010. A major turning point in his career, in 2012 he presented ‘one becomes the other,’ his first solo exhibition of sculpture and video, at Participant Inc. Sculpture, moving image, and sound have since become an integral aspect of his practice. He is known for his immersive, multi-sensory installations that invoke and interweave such disparate contexts as faith-based spaces of communion and night clubs.

It&#39;s real and effective. It&#39;s the official channel, which is much more reliable than the black guy at the door who blocks the road to sell you stuff. Hahahaha. We made an appointment at 9 a.m., and there weren&#39;t many people at that time. But because we were waiting for people, there was already a long line at 9:30. It&#39;s better to go earlier.

The Empire State Building is one of the tourist attractions in New York City, receiving a large number of tourists every year. Visitors can enjoy the view of New York City from the 86th and 102nd floor observation decks. On a clear day, you can see up to 100 kilometers away and even five states. The lights on the top of the building will change color according to different festivals.

The diversion guidance is good and not too crowded;
The observation deck is crowded and windy, and it is quite cold in May;
The ticket price for watching the sunset in the evening is a bit more expensive, so make a reservation in advance.
