A course is available for individuals who are looking to practice gymnastics with the guidance of a coach who can provide valuable advice. This course also offers the opportunity for participants to engage in workshops tailored to their specific needs. Please note that this course is exclusively for independent gymnasts. In order for the course to commence, a minimum of six gymnasts must be enrolled. This course is designed to introduce participants to the world of autonomous gymnastics and provide them with the necessary skills to excel in this discipline. The course will be held at the Club de gymnastique acrobatique l'Etoile, located at 1685 Chemin de l'Industrie, Beloeil, QC J3G 4S5. Day twoSunday Sept 1 from 10 :30am - 4:30 pm students will be applying encaustic medium!! We will be sculpting and experiencing the tactile and alluring feel encaustic is so well known for, we will be adding texture, incisions, patina's, pattern, gold leaf, transfer foil, feathers and R&F pigment sticks into our encaustic painting. In addition to learning how to create a textural surface you will learn how to achieve the coveted ultra-smooth surface, also known as the holy grail! I will be demonstrating the shellac burn and help you incorporate this into your piece if you so desire! This is a beginning journey into three dimensional encaustic forms! We are taking encaustic off the flat panel surface and diving in to exploring its dimensional possibilities! In this workshop you will learn a liberating process of: - Texturing - Layering - Building up and scraping back - You will explore mark-making techniques - Wax applications - Incising and inlaying - Explore color and create depth through use of pigmented wax, pigment sticks and glazing techniques - You will incorporate thread, tissue papers, metallic and gold leaf Participants will go home with one original painting. Encaustic is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” Heat is used throughout the process, from melting the natural beeswax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap). The medium can be used alone for its transparency or adhesive qualities or used pigmented. Pigments may be added to the medium. The medium is melted and applied with a brush or any tool the artist wishes to create from.
