Yi Nationality Year is a folk festival popular in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, and one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Yi New Year, called "Kushi" in Yi language, is a folk festival of sacrifice and celebration that integrates many folk customs such as ancestor worship, recreational competitions, catering and entertainment, and clothing systems. It is distributed in the vast Yi areas of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Guangxi. It is held on an auspicious day around November 20th every year.
