Starting with the Saracen jousting, a popular event celebrated in the city of Arezzo, the exhibition aims to document war games using prints and drawings from various periods in the Uffizi Gallery, especially the numerous examples of helmets, weapons and armour from the famous collection of the Stibbert Museum. These knightly tournaments became popular in the Middle Ages and continued into the Renaissance, including the Crossbow Palio, which required contestants to have skills in precision, and the ancient Game of the Bridge, a contest of strength to conquer the Ponte Vecchio on foot. Visitors will see the most iconic piece in the exhibition, a 16th-century Buratto or Saracen quintain on loan from the Museo Nazionale del Bargello. Probably a celebration to mark the marriage of Francesco I and Bianca Cappero in 1579, the changes over the centuries have transformed it from a Saracen nobleman to the European warrior we see today. The exhibition emblem is another prestigious work of art, Stefano Della Bella’s Knight in Armour, made for the procession and loaned by the Uffizi Gallery. The sumptuous, ornate costumes and robes evoke the sheer splendor of participating in these spectacular events designed to celebrate the great and the good. In another painting loaned from the CR Florence Foundation, Stefano Della Bella depicts a night procession in the Boboli Gardens in 1637. Arms and armour are loaned by Florence’s Museo Stibbert, which has one of the richest collections of material on the ancient game of bridge in Pisa. Stibbert also loaned a fine set of 17th-century crossbows richly inlaid with hunting scenes, made by a workshop in southern Germany. And the collection of the Ivan Bruschi Foundation lends an interesting letter of challenge from “the unconquered, most glorious and ever-victorious King of the Indies, Brato”, issued to announce the version of the Saracen tournament that was held on August 26, 1674 in honor of Cardinal Corsini, Bishop of Arezzo.

Fragile and powerful, flowers speak a universal language that can span centuries and cultures. They tell emotions, celebrate beauty, protest silently and guard age-old stories. And it is precisely to them that the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome dedicates an extraordinary exhibition: “Flowers. From the Renaissance to artificial intelligence”, scheduled from 14 February to 14 September 2025. The exhibition, curated by Franziska Stöhr with Roger Diederen, in collaboration with Suzanne Landau, offers a journey through five centuries of art, culture and innovation.

Li Yongzheng is an artist who moves lucidly through the contemporary context. His vision is deeply rooted in history and space, but is presented in a universal language with a high sense of urgency that transcends the boundaries set by geography and politics. His art is not a simple stylistic exercise, but rather an unmistakable statement of position: not "representation" but "existence". Through his short films, installations and paintings, he seeks not only to present a picture of reality, but also to question and critically explore it.

This year's Architecture Biennale will be curated by Italian architect Carlo Ratti, with the theme of "Intelligence, Nature, Artificiality, Collectiveness", and includes four major directions: interdisciplinary, living laboratory, inspiration space and circular protocol. The Venice Biennale has a history of 100 years. The International Visual Arts Biennale and the Architecture Biennale it contains are held in single and double years in turn. They are on par with the German Kassel Documenta and the Swiss Basel Art Fair, and can be regarded as the highest hall for international display of contemporary art. The Venice Architecture Biennale was first held in 1895. In the course of more than 120 years, it has become the most influential event in the world of architectural art and academia. According to the chief curator, this Architecture Biennale will actively focus on the relationship between architecture and different disciplines such as cities, environment, technology, and energy, and propose "intelligent" solutions to problems such as climate change currently facing human society by displaying different design proposals and practical cases. The exhibition will be held from May 10 to November 23, 2025 (with a preview from May 8 to 9), at the Biennale’s regular venues, the Giardini, the Arsenale, and other venues in Venice.

The 102nd Verona Arena Opera Festival 2025 will take place from 13 June to 6 September with a season of 51 evening events, including opera, concerts, special events and dance in the iconic Roman amphitheatre. In 2025, the Festival will present a series of iconic productions, each presented in new directions and interpretations, bringing freshness and originality to timeless classics. Florence celebrates the artistic genius of Giovan Battista Foggini (1652-1725) with a major monographic exhibition, promoted by the Metropolitan City of Florence and organized by the MUS.E Foundation, which will be held at Palazzo Medici Riccardi from 10 April to 9 September 2025. The exhibition, curated by Riccardo Spinelli, is organized on the occasion of the third centenary of the artist's death and intends to restore to the public the extraordinary figure of the man who, with his 'interdisciplinary' work, ended up shaping the artistic language of late-Medici Florence.

Alongside the main exhibition dedicated to the great sculptor Giovan Battista Foggini, there is also the photographic exhibition “Foggini’s Florence. Views of Paolo Bacherini” – curated by Valentina Zucchi, based on an idea by Riccardo Spinelli, set up in the Fabiani Rooms of Palazzo Medici Riccardi – which offers a suggestive reading of the artist’s activity in the architectural fabric of the city.

Galleria Continua is pleased to welcome the solo exhibition of Indian female artist Shilpa Gupta again at its headquarters in San Gimignano. Gupta is one of the most influential international artists of the post-70s generation. This exhibition presents a series of rich and fascinating works, each of which is rooted in the artist's continuous criticism and deep reflection on themes such as "mobility", "control" and "resilience". The exhibition also includes a new large-scale installation work "Truth" (2022-2025), which was specially created for the theater space of Galleria Continua. It is a large-scale installation that can be walked through, inviting the audience to re-examine their perception of space and time, experience dynamic perspectives, and reconsider the relationship between power and narrative.

GALLERIA CONTINUA presents in its San Gimignano space the exhibition Present Tense by Arcangelo Sassolino. The exhibition brings together a series of new, never-before-seen works, exploring the theme of matter in constant transformation in an attempt to capture a present that is constantly slipping away. Industrial oil, a central element of the works displayed, becomes liquid sculpture and a metaphor for the constant instability of time and space: a dense, opaque fluid that moves, expands, and contracts, engaging in a continuous dialogue between control and unpredictability.

Patricia Low Contemporary presents Humanity, an exhibition by renowned photographer Jimmy Nelson, opening on May 7 to coincide with the Venice Architecture Biennale.This exhibition brings together a selection of major works from Humanity, Nelson’s celebrated retrospective at the Palazzo Reale in Milan (2023). These powerful portraits mark a turning point in Nelson’s artistic evolution, highlighting his commitment to documenting nomadic and Indigenous tribes with dignity and deep human empathy.

From May 16, 2025, Room 1 of the Pinacoteca di Brera will be transformed to host “Beauty and the Ideal,” an unmissable exhibition dedicated to Antonio Canova. Twelve plaster busts restored by Banca Ifis, including the marble Vestal and enameled miniatures from the Sommariva collection, offer a unique journey into Neoclassicism, the founding heart of the Milanese museum.

Thomas Dane Gallery in Naples presents Push Me, Pull You, an exhibition curated by Jenni Lomax.Featuring works by nine artists from past and present generations, Push Me, Pull You arrives out of a conversation held in 2018 with the artist Amy Sillman. The note ‘pushing to the edge, pulling back from the brink’ arose from a discussion about painting in general, and the artist Prunella Clough in particular. What connects the artists in this exhibition is the sense that they think and – to quote Clough – ‘fight’ with their materials. By taking things emotionally and physically to an edge, before bringing them back into view, each artist allows shape, imagery and atmosphere to emerge. They therefore build a conversation that goes back-and-forth between the materiality of the process and something drawn from the back of the mind or caught out of the corner of the eye.

The 'Age of Enlightenment' (and of reforms) is narrated through some 150 works set up in the ground floor rooms of the Gallery, with masterpieces by Goya, Tiepolo, Canaletto, Vigée Le Brun, Liotard, and Mengs: many never seen before, others hidden for over a decade due to the work to extend the exhibition route.

Scheduled from June 10 to September 27, 2025, the exhibition Gianni Bertini: Mechanical Manifesto showcases over 50 works that illustrate a distinctive artistic approach based on mechanical printing and reproduction techniques. The exhibition also marks the beginning of M77’s representation of the artist. Bertini embraced photography, replacing traditional brushes and palette with mechanical processes, and meticulously controlled each stage of the image’s mechanical elaboration to shape its very structure. Transferred onto emulsion-coated canvas, cardboard, or metal, and then rendered in a painterly way using oil, tempera, and collage, these images take on new meanings, reinterpreting reality and the myths of our time.

Alfonso Artiaco presents “Nient’altro che Pittura”, the first solo show by Paolo Bini.Paolo Bini’s (Battipaglia, Italy, 1984) painting emerges from an ongoing meditation on landscape - not as representation, but as memory, perception, and inner geography. In his practice, colour transcends its role as mere surface: it becomes a living material, layered with time, charged with presence. His gestures are never hurried; they accumulate slowly, through acts of addition and erasure, revealing a dynamic equilibrium between control and intuition. For Bini, painting is a space of listening as much as of doing, a field where sensation and structure meet in silence, where the image does not declare, but appears.

Selene Cardia (1995, Silius, Sardinia) grounds her practice in a painting language that is both austere and luminous, where time and gesture are not mere components but structuring forces. Each intervention on the surface, from the priming of the canvas to the layering of pigment, unfolds like a quiet liturgy. It is a rhythm not proclaimed but inhabited - intimate, slow, and insistent. Her measured, recurring gesture is not a display, but a way of dwelling within time—an anchoring act that steadies the fleeting tremor of the present. Time here is not suspended or romanticized; it is restored to its density, experienced as a living body.

On May 7, 1925, the Istituto di Storia delle Scienze was inaugurated as a department of the University of Florence. The first of its kind in Italy, the Institute combined the objective of promoting the history of science with a new sensibility toward the collection and valorization of the material heritage of Italian science. Granted official status as an autonomous entity in 1927, opened to the public in 1930 in its current home in Palazzo Castellani, the Institute acquired a new name in 2010: Museo Galileo. Conceived to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of this Florentine institution, the exhibition presents rare and precious editions of volumes drawn mostly from the Fondo Mediceo-Lorenese, including scientific texts acquired over the centuries by the two Tuscan dynasties. The display offers visitors a unique opportunity to admire masterworks usually conserved out of view in the Museum’s library. Providing a framework for the display of books, a photographic exhibition documents the most important moments in the life of the Institute over these hundred years, accompanied by films exploring some of the research topics of particular interest to the Institute from its foundation to today. June 3rd – June 6th from 12:30pm - 2:30pm (Tuesday - Friday) June 10th - June 13th from 12:30pm-2:30pm (Tuesday - Friday) This camp is a full 8 days and is open to all current 8th grade students going into 9th grade and all current high school band students. You do not need jazz experience to attend this camp, but you do need to play a traditional jazz instrument to partcipate. (Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Rhythm Section) Students will be placed in appropriate ensemble according to skill level. Students will need to bring their own instruments for this camp. Piano, drum set, and bass amplifier will be provided. At This Camp Students will: • Perform jazz music of various styles including swing, latin, and rock • Learn basic and advanced improvisation skills • Learn about some of the musicians who influenced the history of jazz • Rehearse under world class jazz artists • Listen to concerts by world class jazz artists • Perform a concert for parents at the end of camp • Concert will be on Friday June 13th at Noon This camp will feature the following world class instructors: Lew Delgatto – Lew spent 30 years as a member of the Saturday Night Live Band and also recorded with Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and Buddy Rich.
