Karrie Fransman’s comics have been published by The United Nations, The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, the BBC, The Arts Council and The British Red Cross. She has published 4 books: ‘Gender Swapped Fairy Tales’ (2020) and ‘Gender Swapped Greek Myths' (2023, Faber & Faber-) both co-created with Jonathan Plackett and two graphic novels: ‘The House That Groaned’ (2012, Penguin Random House), and the award winning ‘Death of the Artist’ (2015, Jonathan Cape).
She is a founding member of The Comics Cultural Impact Collective (CCIC) that aims to raise awareness of the value of comics in the UK.

Neurodivergent Friendly Linocut Workshop with Nick Morley | The Margate School,

In this workshop you will learn how to make a linocut print with artist Nick Morley. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as people with some experience of linocut.
All welcome.Linocut printing involves carving a design out of a piece of linoleum (also known as lino), inking it with a roller and then printing it onto paper. It is a fun and accessible form of printmaking as you don’t need a lot of expensive equipment and it can easily be done at home. In this workshop you will make a linocut print from a piece of lino which is 6 x 4 inches (approximately A6 size). The prints will be made using black ink. If you want to bring an image to work from you can, but it is usually better to make something up on the day, rather than having a fully formed design before you arrive. Nick can help you with your design in the workshop and if you don’t have any ideas of your own, Nick can make some suggestions.
The workshop consists of four parts: A demonstration where Nick will show you how to carve a piece of lino. Participants will be limited to 10 people. This will include how to hold the tools safely and how to use the different tools to create a range of marks.Carving your block under Nick's guidance.A printing demonstration. This workshop will take place in the auditorium at The Margate School. This is a sound-treated room with controlled lighting, but no natural light. A variety of workspaces and seating will be available.
Workshop participants are welcome to bring headphones, fidget toys, wobble seats etc and are free to move around and take breaks as needed. About Nick Morley:
Nick Morley (AKA Linocutboy) is an artist and illustrator who specialises in making linocuts. He sells his prints and also makes illustrations for book covers and other projects. Nick has been teaching linocut for almost 20 years and has written two books on linocut printing. Nick is a calm and patient teacher. About the Workshop Work with paper artist Nathan Ward to reimagine paper specialist G . F Smith's iconic collection book into a new 3D sculpture; professional artist Nathan will share techniques and insights for working with paper.
Each participant will be given their own workshop collection book from which they can remove papers of their choice and create a unique paper sculpture based on the papers they choose from the collection. Participants can choose to work with any of the papers from the collection during the workshop, including coloured, embossed, metallic and textured papers. It's an opportunity to explore the G . F Smith collection in a hands-on way.

Nathan will provide templates for making the sculpture and full instruction during the course of the activity. The workshop lasts up to two hours, and participants must be aged 16 or above. All necessary tools and materials supplied. This activity should be accessible to most.' About Nathan Ward
Nathan Ward is a London-based Paper Artist who enjoys pushing the possibilities of paper as a material. In his studio in Kingston Upon Thames, Nathan creates intricately crafted paper illustrations and animations, including large-scale sets, window displays and installations. Graduating from Kingston University’s BA Illustration Animation course in 2020, Nathan and his then-fellow student team were the first to hold a student exhibition supported by and in collaboration with G.F Smith in their then-show space. Nathan loves that paper, a tactile material that we all encounter in our everyday lives, in its flat form, can be manipulated and elevated into beautiful sculptures. Nathan enjoys sharing his love of paper with the public and regularly engages in workshops with schools and other organisations. Working within a commercial papercraft field, Nathan has worked with clients including Fortnum & Mason, the English National Opera, The National Trust and The Ned London, to name but a few.

On Thursday 31 Oct, 15.00 - 16.30, Sam Furness and his team will be holding the first Margate Creative Quest and you can be part of it. Spark your curiosity, re-ignite your creativity.
Sam a creative leader, artist and the founder of Channel Twelve and Creative Quests. His work focuses on helping people unlock their creativity through experience design that challenges perceptions, deepens connection and encourages intentional curiosity. In 2016, he embarked on a spare time, personal challenge to immerse himself in a new creative pursuit every month for a year. This experience transformed his way of seeing the world and made him question the limiting stories we tell ourselves about our creative potential. Since that transformative year he has continued to develop the practice of immersing his creative curiosity in themes over calendar months - which he now calls ‘Questing’. Please Note:
The workshop has 15 places. All are welcome, aged 16+.
Please be aware the workshop will include a 25-30 min walk in the local area.
No prior creative practice is required.
