It is all done through a high quality production which will include replays, different camera angles and commentary. There will be 5-6 squads of players all vying to impress onlooking coaches in America. The event will be run by UEFA and FA qualified coaches and it will include a warm up, some technical work and 11v11 game play. Fresh from an award-winning tour of the US, Victorian Radicals is the first comprehensive showing of the city’s Pre-Raphaelite and Arts and Crafts collections in Birmingham for over five years. Discover the story of the Pre-Raphaelites themselves and their influence on artists and makers well into the twentieth century – especially in Birmingham itself. Paintings made by artists including Kate Bunce, Joseph Southall and Arthur Gaskin combined the poetry and intensity of the Pre-Raphaelites’ work with a distinctive identity all their own. From London to Ctesiphon (now Baghdad), and from representations of gender fluid deities from the 3rd century BC to Elizabeth II in 2022, the display focuses on the female rulers, potentates and icons whose stories have often been distorted or diminished over successive centuries and millennia. Coins are by their very nature a projection of power and propaganda: as physical objects, they can convey economic and diplomatic might, and, artistically, the images they bear present a political, social, and often religious construction of power dynamics. Coins – tiny capsules of history with intrinsic economic and aesthetic value – are the most contemporaneous of objects, bearing witness to the ways in which powerful people of all genders wished to have their power expressed. At the same time, historical narratives have often been written and amended by men – who have frequently minimised the role of women or simplified them to fit stereotypes. In addition to reviving the stories of the women who shaped religious belief systems, were diminished by the work of historical authors, and were underestimated in their own day, leading to the downfall of their rivals, this exhibition will also explore how the very presentation of gender on numismatic depictions changed through time and cultures.

Work In Football Presents… How to Work In Football. On the 2nd of December we will host our 2nd networking event at St Andrews Stadium in Birmingham. Join us for a night of networking with fellow students & industry professionals who will be giving their insight into how to break into this fantastic industry. Our first three speakers announced are: Garry Cook: Garry Cook is a seasoned British sports executive and the CEO of Birmingham City F.C., his childhood club. His career spans leadership roles at Nike, Manchester City F.C. (2008–2011), and UFC (2012–2016). In 2023, he became executive president and CEO of the Saudi Professional League before leaving the role to become CEO of Birmingham City. Joseph Ure: Joseph Ure is the First Team Performance Analyst for Aston Villa. He began his career as an intern at Newcastle United, then moved to Tottenham Hotspur, where he advanced from intern to First Team Assistant Performance Analyst. Since joining Aston Villa in 2019, Joseph has been instrumental in supporting the team’s performance analytics at the highest level. Mike Scott: Mike Scott is currently Head of Coaching at Birmingham City F.C., bringing extensive experience from roles across English football. His coaching career includes positions at Walsall, West Bromwich Albion, Derby County, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mike has been Head of Coaching at Birmingham, Wolves, and Derby, where he has been influential in developing coaching strategies and nurturing talent across all levels. The women of France have worked in multiple roles of the film industry since its earliest days in the 1890s and 1900s, as they have around the world. But the role of director – often referred to as auteur since the 1950s when François Truffaut polemically promoted the term – eluded them in significant numbers until the 1970s, when feminist actions of the post-1968 period put women decisively on the film-making map. The campaign for parity of gender in numbers of directors now called the Collectif 50:50is just one element of a picture that includes the rise to worldwide prominence of filmmakers like queer feminist Céline Sciamma, director of Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019), and the maker of 2023’s Cannes film festival Golden Palm winner Anatomy of a Fall Justine Triet. This lecture will trace the origins of contemporary Francophone women’s filmmaking in the turbulent 1990s, give an overview of some key films made by its leading practitioners of the early twenty-first century, and offer analyses of its principal themes and characteristics: 130 years after cinema began, what does Francophone women’s filmmaking, one of the world’s most thrilling and cutting-edge cinemas in the world, look like? naugural lectures are a landmark in academic life, held on the appointment of new professorships. Doors open at 6:30pm Immanuel is a winsome collection of folk-pop songs, with nine originals and one classic carol retelling the Christmas story through the perspective of the angels and people who lived through it -- Mary, Joseph, The Wise Men, The Innkeeper, and even The Star of Bethlehem -- in a compelling and deeply human way. Melanie Penn is a songwriter at the crossroads of faith and culture. After studying classical voice, she moved to New York City and pursued musical theater where she enjoyed several years as a mainstay in the theatre scene, most notably playing Sandy on the Broadway national tour of Grease! starring Frankie Avalon. Penn then started writing songs. Her first singer-songwriter album was called Wake Up Love (2010), and was met with unexpected critical acclaim. Five more albums followed in continued collaboration with Shive: Hope Tonight (2015); Immanuel (2017); Immanuel: The Folk Sessions (2019) and More Alive Vol. I and Vol. 2 (2020/2022). The Immanuel project, Melanie’s songwriting journey through the Christmas story, was called a songwriting tour de force by Christian and mainstream press.
