Join us at Ferny House on Blackpool promenade on the first Sunday of every month for an open mic hosted by Lucy Ray. Originally from bristol veteran singer songwriter Lucy Ray rose to the forefront of the London music scene in the 80's and 90's. Newly resident in Blackpool she will be performing comic and tragic genre defying political songs of people and places. Lucy invites people of all genres and mediums to join her in the funkiest new venue on Blackpool promenade for an evening of creative fun. The event is free to attend and the bar is open serving drinks.

Ever wondered how film makers make their fights just so realistic?Or how stunt people manage to get up time and time again after taking brutal looking falls?Then this is the workshop for you.Film and stage combat is fun. It is a non competitive, incredibly safe and sociable physical activity. This workshop encourages people to work together in teams, building trust and leadership skills, as well as communication and creative thinking. Inspired by the upcoming screening of Polite Society at Blackpool Film Festival, you will learn all the most fun and gory techniques such as safe kicks to the groin, eye gouges, strangles and good old fashioned upper cuts. The session concludes with a talk from a trained stunt professional and an open Q&A covering body burns, car crashes, stair falls and the exciting world of stage combat and stunts. Tickets: £5What you need (on the day) Please wear comfortable, practical and flexible clothing that allows you to move freely.Stay hydrated! Bring a water bottle/drink. You will be able to refill water bottles on site.Who's it for?This session is aimed at women and non-binary people who have an interest in stunt acting for screen and stage.The session is suitable for those aged 14 years and over.The session will be led by 2 female and 1 male facilitator. All facilitators have current DBS checks.The session is for those who are interested in stunt work and want to learn more about the profession. It will be of particular interest to those with a background in dance, circus and performing arts, but experience in this area isn't necessary.Why is it for women and non-binary people?There is currently an under-representation of women and non-binary people working in action film. This workshop is a friendly introduction so that we can understand the work of women in this area and enable more performers to enter the industry.
