Blackpool Illuminates will run from 29 August 2025 to 4 January 2026 for another extended season.

Join us at Ferny House on Blackpool promenade on the first Sunday of every month for an open mic hosted by Lucy Ray. Originally from bristol veteran singer songwriter Lucy Ray rose to the forefront of the London music scene in the 80's and 90's. Newly resident in Blackpool she will be performing comic and tragic genre defying political songs of people and places. Lucy invites people of all genres and mediums to join her in the funkiest new venue on Blackpool promenade for an evening of creative fun. The event is free to attend and the bar is open serving drinks.

Do you love dolls? Would you like to see them come alive in their very own movie? Then join @vintagebarbieclare for a fun and easy beginners stop-motion animation workshop! Come and learn how to animate dolls and miniatures and leave with your very own mini movie masterpiece. All dolls and miniatures will be provided for use during the workshop, but please bring your own smartphone or iPad, capable of downloading the Stop Motion App required for this session, and preferably (although not necessary) a stand/tripod for your device so you can get the most out of this fantastic workshop. Spaces are limited and FREE (there is an option to pay what you can) so do book early to avoid disappointment. Suitable for children ages 8 and up. We are in the process of installing a lift, however due to unforeseen delays this is now due to be completed later in the year. The event space is up a single flight of 14 steps then you go around the corner and there are two small steps. Once you’re upstairs there’s a loo. You shouldn’t need to come downstairs for anything until the end of the activity. This informal, friendly hand-building workshop is all about getting creative, having a good time and experimenting with clay in a gentle environment. What will I do? Handbuilding techniques allow you to use your hands to create forms with clay. You'll be able to learn or improve your hand-building techniques, like pinching, slab rolling/building and coiling. We will show you these techniques and guide you through the whole process. You'll be able to to make your own bowls, plates, vases, decorations and much more. You can also leave your clay piece with us for drying and firing in the kiln. This can take up to 3 weeks. Then you can collect your piece and take it home. Beginners are warmly welcomed.
