Siete tutti invitati al Concerto di Natale del progetto Isola Suonifera, un evento che celebra la musica, i ritmi e tradizioni afrobrasiliane e le iniziative di condivisione di quartiere. Ma di cosa si tratta? Isola Suonifera è un evento mensile organizzato in collaborazione con lo Slow Mill, che vede il maestro di percussioni Kal Dos Santos e la sua compagnia Toc Toc Officina del Ritmo animare le strade del quartiere con un corteo musicale. Passeggiando tra le vie, i musicisti inviteranno passanti, residenti, bambini e chiunque voglia unirsi, a ballare e gioire insieme al ritmo delle percussioni. Al termine del corteo, l’evento si sposterà allo Slow Mill, dove sarà servito un pranzo a offerta libera con piatti tipici della tradizione afrobrasiliana. A seguire, il Concerto di Natale dell’Officina del ritmo con il prezioso intervento dei bambini del corso di percussioni tenuto dallo stesso Kal Dos Santos presso lo Slow Mill. Chi è Kal Dos Santos? Kal Dos Santos è un attore e musicista brasiliano, diplomato alla Scuola di Musica e Arte Scenica dell'Università Federal di Bahia, dove ha iniziato la sua carriera professionale, specializzandosi in percussioni e canto. Dopo essersi trasferito a Milano nel 1990, ha fondato l’Associazione Culturale Mitoka Samba nel 1991, la prima orchestra di percussioni afrobrasiliane della città, di cui è ancora oggi direttore artistico. Kal è anche ideatore e organizzatore dell’evento “Arrastão di Yemanjá”, un corteo ritmico dedicato alla Dea del Mare, patrocinato dal Comune di Milano. Presso Slow Mill, Kal cura laboratori musicali per adulti e bambini e realizza spettacoli che celebrano la cultura afrobrasiliana. Join Catherine Haskins to learn about how she curated The Mill's galleries and commissioned art projects. Catherine received her BA from Dartmouth College in Studio Art, attended Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in 2002 and was a receipient of The Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation Space Program in 2005. From 1998 to 2015 her video work was presented continuously in exhibitions and festivals internationally. E’ su questa tragica domanda che si sofferma e si consuma lo spettacolo “Dialoghi con Giobbe – Disputa in tre quadri per voce solista sulla Giustizia”. Tre quadri di vite sofferenti contese tra il male e il bene, e che cercano un senso all’esistenza e al dolore dell’umano. Tre dialoghi che si sviluppano in tre storie molto diverse fra loro ma che si misurano, tutte, con questo baratro della vita. -Il primo dei tre è un dialogo che si svolge tra un aguzzino nazista e una vittima ebrea sopravvissuta alla shoah, allo sterminio di Auschwitz. Un confronto drammatico ma che resta senza soluzione, senza risposta, la parola, impotente. Anche Dio è muto, anzi assente. I due resteranno soli abbandonati al loro passato. -Il secondo dialogo trova di fronte un giudice e un’anima all’ultimo giudizio: la legge divina e la povertà umana della paura. La paura non può essere alibi per non agire per non fare, per non caricarsi delle proprie responsabilità; la paura è una povertà non concessa, è colpevole, ma pure, come dice Don Abbondio “la paura uno non se la può dare da solo”; e allora perché Dio ci lascia soli nella solitudine e nella paura? -Nel terzo e ultimo quadro è Giuda (il grande traditore) che si mette a nudo, consapevole della sua “colpa”, ma che con furore mette a nudo e lancia un’accusa all’umanità tutta “io so chi siete: traditori di uomini, di ideali, di affetti – come me – che si mascherano, si mimetizzano e mentono senza ritegno perché chi tradisce mente anche a se stesso per coprire la propria viltà”. E’ con questa invettiva che infine termina il suo dialogo/monologo “Mi maledite perché dico chi siete; vi maledico perché dite chi sono”. Sentite le storie, ascoltate le testimonianze, sarà il pubblico ad essere chiamato in causa, a sbilanciarsi e innescare così una “reazione a catena” fatta di emozioni e reazioni, di pensieri, di pro e contro: una “giuria popolare” chiamata non a verdetto ma a trovare ancora domande, ma fuori dalla scatola nera del teatro, ciascuno lungo la sua strada. Try your hand at a beginner-friendly Japanese style binding! Students will learn a brief history of the Japanese Stab Binding, and will receive guided instruction on how to create their own hanging list book. Select your cover paper, leather, and thread color, to create a book that is uniquely you! This is a make and take class - students will create one hanging list book to take home. While not required, it is recommended that you attend Shuttle Press & Bindery's Pamphlet Stitch class before attempting this binding - we will be building upon the sewing techniques we've already learned! Students can direct any/all questions about this class to the instructor, Dana, via email: shuttlepressbindery@gmail.com -- All students who attend Shuttle Press & Bindery workshops will be required to sign a liability waiver in order to participate. Letterpress and bindery tools can be dangerous, and can cause significant injury or harm. The class instructor reserves the right to deny instruction to anyone in attendance who displays impairment or an inability to use tools safely and properly. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, students who are feeling unwell should NOT attend in-person workshops. Masks are optional, unless otherwise mandated by state or local officials.
