SheJumps and Jackson Hole Mountain Guides have joined forces to offer a women's specific AIARE Level 1 course in the breathtaking Tetons! This exciting collaboration between SheJumps and Jackson Hole Mountain Guides presents a unique opportunity for female outdoor enthusiasts to enhance their skills and knowledge in avalanche safety. To register for this course, please visit the Jackson Hole Mountain Guides website. It is important to note that registration must be completed through JHMG. The course will take place on February 17-18, 2024, and has a cost of $635. During this comprehensive course, participants will learn from experienced and certified ski and splitboard guides from The Women's Network of Jackson Hole Mountain Guides. The focus will be on evaluating hazards, making informed decisions, and performing companion rescue in avalanche terrain. Participants will also have the chance to demo Mammut Avalanche Safety gear. The course follows a hybrid learning model, which includes access to an online learning module one week prior to the course, as well as an evening video chat session with the instructor two days before the course starts. This course is designed for downhill skiers and boarders who are comfortable riding black diamond terrain at resorts or ungroomed backcountry snow on slopes up to 30 degrees. For those new to touring or looking to refine their skills, a Backcountry Essentials course is available as a great starting point. It is recommended that backcountry travelers continue their avalanche education yearly. In addition to the AIARE 1 course, Jackson Hole Mountain Guides offers Avalanche Rescue and AIARE 2 courses, as well as various camps and clinics for mountain enthusiasts.
