We follow the Shropshire Way along the river and then climb steadily up out of the gorge, we then head along Benthall edge and around to Benthall Hall. From here we walk across the fields towards Benthall and head back into the woods at Workhouse coppice and around to Pattens Rock quarry where we descend the steps and join the railway line back almost to Ironbridge and then at the lime kilns we take the higher dragons path back to the Ironbridge. Grade of Walk: Moderate Length: 6 miles Pace: Leisurely Terrain: Woodland and farmland Steps and Stiles: Some steep steps both up and down and one stile. Dog Friendly: YES. Dogs to be kept on leads unless agreed with walk leader. Walk Leader: Jackie Bletcher Specific Walk Information: Muddy Essential Information for Walkers: All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event, parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services.
