In een prikkelende, humoristische en confronterende theatershow worden rokers en mee-rokers meegenomen in de rollercoaster die ‘stoppen’ heet. Een show waarin we om rokers denken en waarin we rokers laten omdenken en de discussie over betutteling versus gezonde omgeving niet wordt geschuwd. Op het toneel een toch nog stiekem rokende vader, een fanatiek gestopte moeder en een kritische puber-dochter. Hoe begonnen de ouders ooit met roken, welke mislukte stoppogingen waren er, wat zijn de moeilijke momenten, en de kritische blik van dochterlief. Het einddoel? Rokers en mee-rokers wakker schudden en het stoppen met roken een gespreksonderwerp maken. Na de voorstelling gaan we op een leuke interactieve manier met elkaar in gesprek over wat roken voor ons betekent (heeft) en komen de mogelijkheden aan bod die er zijn in Rotterdam om te stoppen met roken. Blue Light Sessions Presents Tommy Van Solo and Kyle Vaughan Tom (Tommy) van Deursen has been a touring musician for the past 15 years. Born in Vancouver BC on May 7th, 1989, raised in the tiny mountain town of Kaslo, and currently residing on Salt Spring Island after 12 years of music and career development in East Van. He is an original member of Vancouver’s Tropical Disco-Rockers The Boom Booms, and the frontman for the rock band Small Town Artillery Collective. He has toured Brasil, Europe, The USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Haiti with The Boom Booms and many times around Western Canada + Ontario with STAC. In the last 15 years, Tom can count on two hands the amount of solo concerts he has put on. Bands have not only filled the large majority of his time, but also met the criteria of his notions about what it means to make music. He is making an effort to step outside that comfort zone and try something different. He puts on a deep feeling and warm show, not afraid to engage with a crowd and lean into experimentation within the confines of his songs. A little piano and keys, lots of Stratocaster and acoustic guitar, and a wide vocal range all get thrown into the air, with the thump of a kick drum to help with the foundations. Think James Blake in a boxing match with Jack White while the lads from Half Moon Run play a well-paced game of bocce ball outside. But the grass is tall. And a storm is coming.
