Splendour of Colonial Singapore Walking Tour with Riverside Lunch | City Hall MRT Station (NS25/EW13)
Apr 25, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Singapore
Distance: 2.5km
Highlights:
- Old European Town
- The Civic District
- Singapore River
- Lunch at Boat Quay
Description:
On this walking tour, we cast our minds back more than 200 years to a time when Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles of the British East India Company arrived in Singapore, started a British trading post in 1819, became part of the Straits Settlements in 1826, and eventually a separate colony of the British crown in 1867.
We’ll visit well-preserved structures from the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras, and stately neo-classical style buildings, which have all been restored to showcase the splendour of Colonial Singapore.
We pay tribute to our former colonial masters who left behind their legacy of careful town planning, sound legal system, good education system, solid infrastructure, impressive architecture, etc, which have certainly played a significant part in the development of modern Singapore.
At about midday, we’ll kick back and enjoy lunch by the river at Boat Quay, before we resume our tour of the Supreme Court, Old Hill Street Police Station, Central Fire Station and the oldest church in Singapore, the Armenian Apostolic Church of St Gregory the Illuminator.

The Contra Band Project 2.0 @ The Jazz Loft | The Jazz Loft @ Blu Jaz
Apr 25, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Singapore
The Contra Band Project began in 2024 as the creative brainchild of Rachma Lim and Ernest Tan as they explored the unique duo arrangement of piano and guitar. In Sarah-Kei Lauw they found a kindred spirit, and the added dimension of a singing voice.
Their driving philosophy is to celebrate the passions that unite jazz musicians: a love for spontaneity and for new discoveries. Join them in their 2025 season as they continue to discover the endlessly exciting world of jazz.
The Contra Band Project 2.0 includes Bryan De Rozario on tenor saxophone, Nobu Shiraishi on double bass, and Nathaniel Ng on drums.
2025: Seasons
In tropical Singapore we find ourselves without seasonal changes to guide the passage of time. We live without falling auburn leaves and technicolour blooms, fresh powdery snow and icy finger waves. With a touch of wistfulness and a sprinkling of wanderlust, we'd like to bring our audiences on a journey away from the equator, where seasons inspire art, generation after generation.
”I’d say that I have spring fever, but I know it isn't spring”
Snow is melting in Norway, cherry blossoms are flowering in Japan and tulips are blooming in Holland. Join us at our Spring Session and let us bring you there with songs of hope and awakening. Come add a little colour to your April and a little spring to your step.
Doors open at 7pm.
2 Sets at 7:45pm & 9:15pm.
Cover Charge $28 for both sets.

My Boon Keng Heritage Tour [English] (26 Apr 2025) | Kallang MRT Station - Exit B Street Level
Apr 26, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Singapore
In the words of Prof Yacob Ibrahim, a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kolam Ayer ward in Jalan Besar GRC: “The history of Kallang River is the history of Singapore. It is an important story to be told”.
The name Kilang, Kelang or Kallang was a reference to the Orang Laut tribe known as Orang Beduanda Kalang, who settled in Kallang and Singapore Rivers and made kajangs (boat roof) and sails. Kallang refers to the roller skid for launching boats in Malay. There were about 500 Orang Biduanda Kallang when Raffles first landed in Singapore.
The Kallang River, which is the longest river in Singapore, flows from Lower and Upper Pierce Reservoir to the basin near Nicoll Highway. My Boon Keng Heritage Tour covers the section of the river near its intersection with Whampoa River where early immigrants lived, worked, played and prayed at Kampong Kuchai, Kampong Hock Soon and Kampong Koo Chye. Some of Singapore's most prominent religious and social institutions, earliest public housing and industrial estates were also established at Boon Keng to provide employment for her residents. Do not miss the exclusive visit to Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital , Singapore's oldest charitable healthcare institution on this tour.
The tour also includes a memorable behind-the-scenes trip to Geylang Bahru Industrial Estate where we will get to meet funeral directors!

Suki Quasimodo Presents: DATURA | RASA

Singapore
⋆˙⟡
Details
⋆˙⟡
In near darkness, with no distractions,
DATURA 01
unfurls—shifting between shadow and light, weight and release. London-based Singaporean artist
Suki Quasimodo
crafts a soundworld of ritual and rupture, where whispers dissolve into bass, and echoes fold into the in-between. Dark dub, abstract rhythm, and cinematic texture weave together, moving like a half-remembered dream—at once hypnotic, heavy, and fleeting. Expect a sonic meditation on tenderness and identity, pulsing at the edge of stillness and intensity, allure and danger.
Then, Suki invites
Dean Chew
(Darker Than Wax) &
Chris Shearmon
(Wild Pearl Studio) for an honest dialogue on
What Makes An Artist
—exploring creation through fear and loss, the radical awakening behind
DATURA
, and the raw, unfiltered space it occupies.
⋆˙⟡ Community spaces thrive with your support ⋆˙⟡
Entry is free, but to keep events like this going, the venue requires a $15 drink coupon at the door (redeemable for any standard mixer drink). Think of it as a little toast to the night.
⋆˙⟡
Suki Quasimodo (Random Artefacts) ⋆˙⟡
Singaporean-born multidisciplinary artist
Pamm Hong
, AKA
Suki Quasimodo
, crafts cinematic soundscapes where memories blur and breathe. As a visual artist, her work intertwines visceral sub frequencies and striking visual aesthetics co-produced with artificial intelligence— creating a shared space for tenderness and technology.
Now based in London, she has immersed herself in a thriving underground community, drawn to the beauty of expressive experimentation through artists like Björk, Yves Tumor, Amon Tobin, 7038634357, Tim Hecker, Space Afrika, Coby Sey, Loraine James, Jlin, Mica Levi, Caterina Barbieri, Julianna Barwick, and Sofie Birch. Weaving together classical influences, cinematic composition, and her deep connection to dance music, she channels sonic catharsis through heartbreak, fear, and loss—moving from hopeful harmonies into waves of karmic reckoning.
Quasimodo’s world is built on layered textures, field recordings, and evocative sound design—intimate, immersive, and entirely her own.
⋆˙⟡ Dean Chew (Darker Than Wax) ⋆˙⟡
Co-founder of the pioneering label
Darker Than Wax
, Dean Chew is a key figure in shaping Singapore’s underground music landscape. A selector, curator, and sonic storyteller, his sets traverse deep, genre-fluid terrains—from cosmic jazz to leftfield club rhythms. With a deep belief in music as a cultural connector, Dean brings a sharp ear and expansive perspective to the conversation.
⋆˙⟡
Chris Shearmon (Wild Pearl Studio) ⋆˙⟡
Founder of
Wild Pearl Studio

One @ the Ballet - Repertory Treasures | Singapore Ballet
Apr 26, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Singapore
Conducted by our Artistic Director, Janek Schergen will explore a wide spectrum of dance topics which will enable individuals gain a greater insight into the world of dance. From something as detailed as the little rituals that dancers perform before they go onstage, to the creative process a choreographer undergoes to create a new work, the audience can expect to enhance their knowledge of dance and also watch our dancers up-close and personal as they perform excerpts from our main performance seasons. Repertory Treasures Dance companies are always asked what is “new” in the repertoire. It becomes a matter of balance to present a mix of heritage repertoire and new works for our audiences. With an expanding repertoire, as the years progress for Singapore Ballet, certain ballets emerge as the identity of the company and new works are influenced by the style of those particular choreographic pieces. What continues and how we move forward is the alchemy that forms the unique identity and perspective of the repertoire for our audiences. We’ll show you what defines us as a dance company and where we are intending to go in future.

Sembawang Black & White Walking Tour | Sembawang MRT Station (NS11)
Apr 26, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Singapore
Meet me 9am, 26
th
April 2025 at Sembawang MRT near the control station.
From there it is a 1.2km walk on Canberra Road to Bermuda Road, St John's Road, Canada Road and onto Durban Road. On the way, we'll see, "touch" and feel the ambience of an era from the early 1900s. It is so surreal that the British ambience is just at the door step of a HDB Estate.
Since we are doing a walking tour, you will be able to come up close and personal with some of most beautiful Black & White Houses, complete with war bunkers and all. It isn't really cheap to rent these houses. Most are already tenanted.
Canberra Road was once a very small 2-way road. Only a very short stretch is left in its original width. Most of Canberra Road has been widen to cater to the new infrastructure. But once we get onto Bermuda Road, things here remain much the same - from the early 1900s.
I invite you to come take a walk with me through the time tunnel into the 1920s/1930s. It is unbelievable that this quiet enclave is but a few hundred meters from the bustling Sembawang HDB estate. This tour will end at the infamous “The Strip”, - once famous for its brawls and debauchery during the 1960s.
From here, we’ll take a bus back to Sembawang MRT, or you may choose to do lunch at The Strip – which may be a good idea.
Note:
We do the worldwide practice of tipping at the end of the tour. Tipping guide as follows: $20 for a satisfactory guide, $20+ for a guide who exceeds expectations, and $30 for an outstanding guide.
We also reserve the right to accept or reject habitual late cancellations and no-shows.
Call or message Uncle Chris at +65 91814298 for corporate, private, or student bookings.
Do not sign up for this tour if you are not sure of your schedule. Please understand this method of booking platform can only perform its best with your full sincerity. Sign up only when you are sure of your schedule.
We look forward to your graciousness and generosity!
