The exhibition presents the huge cartoons created by Jean-Baptiste Oudry in preparation for the famous royal hunts of Louis XV. These cartoons, which have been meticulously restored, are exhibited together with the final tapestries. Objects related to hunting, such as porcelain, drawings and tapestries, offer a deeper insight into the world of hunting.
This exhibition is the first to bring together Oudry's cartoons and the corresponding tapestries. Four of the cartoons have recently been restored to reveal the original tones and subtleties of Oudry's work. In addition, the Appartement des Chasses, which was decorated with these works, is exceptionally open to the public for the duration of the exhibition.
