Les Fleurs du Mal (The Flowers of Evil) by Charles Baudelaire is one of the milestones of world literature. First published in Paris in 1857, the volume caused a scandal that led to Baudelaire being taken to court. Despite these less than auspicious beginnings, the poems were to have an enormous impact. In literature as well as in art, they laid the foundations for a new aesthetic that overturned the traditional idea of the oneness of the beautiful and the good. Taking Odilon Redon’s charcoal drawing Fleur du Mal (c. 1890) in the Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection as its starting point, the exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through the art of the early modernist period all the way to contemporary works that shed light on the various aspects of Baudelaire’s aesthetics as well as its after- and side effects. In addition to a small selection of works that were created as a direct response to his poems, the exhibition focuses on specific themes that are central to Les Fleurs du Mal.

The piece THE YELLOW BOAT consists of five Acts that deal with the five human senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. In this first act, “TOUCH” (approx. 30-40 min.), we deal with the sense of “touch”. What attracts us to explore the five human sensory experiences? Our senses are the channels through which we perceive the world; the filters through which external information penetrates and our own impulses reach the outside world. They are the “radar” for our impact and the impact of others. Where do our senses take us? What dynamics are they tuned to from an evolutionary point of view? What have they developed for? The Dancers Sinja J. Völl and Annekatrin Kiesel and together with voice artist Daniela Marcozzi, move through tactile metaphors in a dynamic, poetic way. Welcome to the Dreaming Bodies Practice! Join us once a month at Vea Yoga Studio for a transformative experience of self-expression. Let go of stress, cultivate inner peace, and discover a deeper sense of self-awareness. Dreaming Bodies is a guided dance meditation class that lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. During each session you will connect to your inner dreamer, melting your brain into your body and allowing your dreaming body to express freely. Each class begins with a physical warm-up charging the space together and leads into a longer guided dance/movement meditation with a specific imaginative/emotional theme. The class is accompanied by diverse and inspiring ambient, experimental, rock, pop, and classical music. Celia and Anna co-facilitate each session, guiding with their voice and movement presence. Each class is a deeply personal journey that is shared collectively. You are invited to move intuitively; there is no right or wrong way to move in Dreaming Bodies. You do not need to have prior experience with dance or meditation. Simply come with an open mind/heart/body and a curiosity to explore! We prioritize cultivating a safe space for you to feel comfortable diving as deep as you desire. We will always begin with a check-in to understand who is present, what theme we will be exploring, and whether we have any specific accessibility needs. Für dieses Projekt konnte PotsaLotsa in von Madame Hodeir zugesandte unveröffentlichte Noten ihres Mannes einsehen. Diesem beeindruckenden Konvolut von seit den 1950er Jahren selten aufgeführten Originalkompositionen hat sich Silke Eberhard angenommen und für ihr Ensemble umarrangiert, adaptiert und mit ein paar frischen, neuen Klangfarben versehen.
