This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kobo Abe (1924-1993). His creative activities began with poetry during his student years, and extended to the novels The Wall and Woman in the Sand, the play Friend, as well as photography, and even the pursuit of comprehensive art through the theater group Studio Abe.
