As miffy turns 70, we look back at the well-loved character's rise to popularity through the charming books and simple illustrative style which made has made her famous across the world. The interactive exhibition will bring miffy to life through creative displays and activities which will offer an immersive and playful experience to enjoy. It will also explore aspects of Dick Bruna’s design philosophy and artwork through his 124 picture books, posters, book covers, logos and house styles for charities and worthy causes. The exhibition is curated in partnership with Mercis and will tour to Norfolks' Time and Tide museum after Leeds City Museum.

To encourage cycling along with walking and scooting during the Alwoodley Ward Wide Walk to School Week , and in support of the Alwoodley Open Nature Friendly Gradens Day, Cycle North is offering a guided cycle ride around beautiful Alwoodley. The instructor will lead you (and your family/friends) safely from point to point, all the while supporting you to build confidence and skills using your bike to get around the local aea. We'll start and finish at King Lane park and Ride. We hope that more families will feel comfortable cycling recreationally after this event, and that you'll consider replacing some car journeys with super-fun bike rides! It's official! It's Strange Up North is returning for another exciting night filled with bookish fun! This year the event will be held on the 24th of May and will start at 5:30pm and end at 8:30pm. Come and join us for a fun and friendly life drawing session. Go Figure is a regular event held here at Swarthmore, look out for it every first Thursday of the month! There will be no tutor leading this session but it will be hosted by a member of the Swarthmore team. Friday Night Social is our weekly wind down and provides an alcohol-free space for adults to chat and skate in Leeds. What is a Friday Night Skate Social? Come and skate, have a chat, meet other skaters in the community and unwind! Our skate marshalls are here to ensure everyone has a great time and skate safely. Skate hire (including protective pads) available - please ensure you purchase an Entry + Skate hire ticket for each person requiring skates. Hire skates are recalled at 21:45 and session end is 21:50 to allow us to clear the venue by 22:00. I have never roller skated before - is FNS for me? We welcome folks of all skill levels, including folks with very little or no experience. Our skate marshalls are more than happy to give you tips to get started, but are not able to provide any kind of tuition beyond this. Please come to Skate class on Sundays if you'd like a better breakdown of movements. What size hire skates do I need? We recommend you ask for your regular shoe size. If you try skates on and they're not right for you, we are happy to swap them. Our skate hire is available in full sizes only, from UK 3 - UK 15. You no longer need to book a specific ticket to tell us what size you require. I have a Skate Pass, do I still need to book? Yes, please still book your spot for FNS, and have your digital Skate Pass ready to show at check-in. Please remember that if you are not able to make it, our cancellation policy does still apply. Can I bring my own refreshments? Yes of course. We want to keep this skate space alcohol free, so ask you do not bring alcohol to consume on the premises, including the car park. Roller Girl Gang was founded and is run by women, with the support of our fantastic volunteer team, to provide better access to roller skating for all genders and identities, especially marginalised folks. What do I do if I have a problem? Please speak to one of our skate marshall volunteers, who wear purple t-shirts. If they are unable to help you, they will find our lead skate marshall, who will do their best to assist. We have a Respect policy in place to keep everyone feeling as safe and supported as possible. The Social Justice Lecture Series, the Office for Institutional Equity at Leeds Trinity is proud to host Kehinde Andrews new book and film on Malcolm X. Malcolm X is one of the most well known but misunderstood figures in history. No he did not hate White people, preach violence and eventually come to his senses and join the civil rights movement. Malcolm had the clearest analysis of racism and proposed a concrete solution. Join us to launch Kehinde Andrews new book and film that undoes the myths and presents the real mission of Malcolm X, 100 years since he was born. The documentary starts in Birmingham, where Malcolm spoke just nine days before he died, then travels to London and New York, to the place where Malcolm was killed sixty years ago. The film features interviews with Malcom's daughter Ilyasah Shabazz, George the Poet, Marc Lamont Hill and more. We will be running a special preview as well as talking about the book.
