FILM: Mirrors / I, Dismantled including director Q&A | Full of Noises

Jan 26, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Barrow-in-Furness
Arts
We are delighted to kick off our 2025 Light in the Park movie season with two amazing films by Paul Daly. The Coventry-based filmmaker has documented social history throughout England during a decade of great divide and unrest, encompassing the breadth of this country's society and diverse culture. Using the fragility and impermanence of 16mm film, Paul's work documents a changing isle and its people. Watch Mirrors and I, Dismantled and then chat to the filmmaker about his work. Tickets just £3. Mirrors What began as a document of trades, traditions, cultures and home environments in contemporary England evolved and became an all-consuming project. Mirrors is a witness to unprecedented events as they unfolded on this singular isle over seven extraordinary years. From volatile public demonstrations to intimate domestic scenes, the film reveals the experience and emotions of living in England, explored through the lives of total strangers, family, and friends. Shot exclusively on 16mm film, Mirrors is both lucid diary and poetic map - a meditation on human resilience, a journey across an island. - Paul Daly. I, Dismantled A series of five domestic vignettes that draw from the artist’s experiences and memories. Each individual, moving portrait is a sensitive and at times surreal exploration that walks a fine line between documentary truth and poetic interpretation. Each 100ft roll of film was undone, shaken and tossed in the artist’s living space, infusing the 16mm film emulsion with hair, sweat and skin. - Paul Daly. Timings: Sunday 26 January 2025. 2pm doors. 2:30pm films start. Access information for the screening: If you have any access requirements please email glenn@fonfestival.org Advance visits to Piel View House: If this is your first time to the venue and you are nervous about attending you can arrange to come and see the venue prior to the event to get used to it.
