Tintoretto’s Genesis | Cincinnati Art Museum
Apr 18–Aug 31, 2025 (UTC-5)
Cincinnati
In the early 1550s, Jacopo Tintoretto (1518–1594) made a series of large paintings depicting scenes from the Book of Genesis for the Scuola della Trinità, a charitable organization in Venice. Painted just as the artist was coming into his maturity, these canvases display a fusion of Michelangelo’s forceful conception of the figure, Titian’s renowned colorism, and Tintoretto’s own vigorous brushwork, dynamic compositions, and command of the workshop system. The paintings mark the beginning of Tintoretto’s rise as the powerhouse of Venetian Renaissance painting—a position he would hold for the next four decades.

BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES: TEACHING KIDS ABOUT FINANCIAL LITERACY
Have you started talking to your kids about money yet? Teaching your kids about money involves having honest conversations. Financial Literacy is the possession of skilled, knowledge, and behaviors that allow an individual to make informed decisions regarding money.
Join us for a family-friendly event at Read Across Madisonville 2025, hosted by John P. Parker Elementary School, Rising Stars of America, Madisonville Education and Assistant Center and Kennedy Heights Arts Center. This exciting event will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at
Cincinnati Sports Club
, 3950 Red Bank Road, Cincinnati, OH 45227.
April is
National Financial Literacy Month
(also known as
Financial Capability Month
), which emphasizes the importance of financial literacy education and preparing a secure financial future. Financial education is more than dollars and cents. It is about establishing better spending habits, instilling confidence, and equipping the next generation with the real-world skills to manage financial goals and milestones.
One Challenge, Many Effects
-
Financial Illiteracy causes broken homes, school dropouts, dependency on predatory lending (payday loans) and government benefits, health issues (stress, depression, anxiety), bankruptcies, foreclosures, divorces, homelessness, deficiency in economic development, and even murder-suicide in some extreme cases. Due to lack of adequate financial skills, majority of youth follow the same patterns as their parents with no or little chance of breaking the cycle.
Our goal is to inform and empower students about earning, saving, and spending money wisely. Teaching kids about money is crucial, but it does not have to be boring. Today, there are more fun and engaging financial literacy activities for kids than ever before. From classic board games to interactive online challenges.
Playing these games as a family encourages open discussions about money management and helps children understand the consequences of their financial choices.

About This Workshop:
This workshop is for kids ages 5-12.
A class for kids, created by kids! Thanks to The Dapper Hammer (Kalamazoo) for letting us use their super fun youth class idea! Here's what their director has to say about the idea behind this workshop: "A couple years ago, after spending the holiday season making dozens of cutting boards, planters, and candle holders, I was left with buckets of really cool scraps and off cuts. My kids came to the shop with me one evening and while I was cleaning, they raided the scrap bin and started sanding, gluing, nailing, and screwing these scrap pieces together into what my daughter called 'Scrappy Sculptures.'"
In this class, youth will learn about different varieties and colors of wood, learn to use sanders, screwdrivers, clamps, speed squares, and most of all – their imagination! There’s no limit to what kids can create with the time and space to explore new ideas. The class will begin with an introduction and safety talk, some short tool demonstrations, and then students will design and create their own sculpture using hand tools, scrap wood, and glue.
Adults
When purchasing a ticket, please enter your child's name and age.
Upon arrival, please drop your child off by walking them into the building and complete a youth waiver before class begins.
There is not much extra room in our space for parents to stay and wait during our workshop, but we'd recommend hanging out down the street at Urbana Coffee or Wendigo Tea (3114 & 3116 Warsaw Ave 45205)
Please plan to return to Casa Colina 10 minutes early to pick up your kiddo at the conclusion of class.
Safety
Students will use hand tools and learn to operate a palm sander. They will also get to see an adult use a miter saw. Students will be provided with child-sized safety goggles and noise canceling ear muffs, which will be required at all times when standing near power tools. Masks are optional and not provided, please send your child with a mask if you prefer for them to wear one.
Additional notes:
Upon arrival, please complete a waiver for your youth before class begins
Please wear closed-toed shoes
Avoid wearing clothing with long ties (ie no hoodie strings)
Any long hair should be tied/clipped back
Sanitized eye and ear protection will be provided

This presentation will delve into the dynamics of designing and maintaining energy-efficient and sustainable desiccant dehumidification systems for various market segments. It will provide attendees with an understanding of the following:
1. How desiccant dehumidification works and how components interact to provide a thermodynamically eloquent moisture removal system.
2. Why desiccant based dehumidification differs from that of more traditional refrigerant based DX or chilled water methods, and why this is important in achieving lower indoor moisture conditions.
3. The myriad of applications including hospitals, clean rooms, pharmaceutical, food processing, archival storage, aerospace, and others where desiccant dehumidification is the perfect solution.
4. Why dedicated desiccant dehumidification equipment can perform independently of the space sensible heat ratio (SHR), eliminating associated frosting and freezing issues that traditional cooling coils face when trying to achieve low leaving air temperatures.
David Schurk holds the positions of Director of Applied Engineering and National Sales Manager at Innovative Air Technologies in Covington, GA. Additionally, he serves as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and Instructor for the Humidity Control I & II ASHRAE Learning Institute courses. Previously, David chaired the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Sustainability and Decarbonization Leadership Task Force.
