In this installment of Primary Handgun, participants will learn how to conquer the challenges posed by low light conditions. Our expert instructors will cover a range of topics including firearm safety fundamentals, developing a performance-driven mindset, and essential performance shooting skills. Understanding the relationship between white light sources and human vision is crucial, as is mastering handheld lighting techniques and the limitations of weapon-mounted lights. Additionally, participants will delve into the concept of photonic obstructions and receive a refresher on one-handed shooting fundamentals. To attend this enlightening course, students must come prepared with a minimum of 300 rounds of pistol ammunition and a quality functional pistol (back up pistol recommended). Other essentials include a holster (no cross draw or shoulder rigs), eye and ear protection (preferably electronic), and 3-5 working magazines for double-stacked pistols (5-10 for single stacks). Students should also bring a way to carry magazines on their person, a hand-held white light source, extra batteries, and a low-powered admin light (optional). Additional items to bring include food, water, a notepad and pen/pencil, a baseball-type hat, a proper belt, lube, tools specific to gear maintenance, knee/elbow pads and gloves (optional), an open mind, and a folding chair (optional). Join EPIC Mountain Bike and the Mid-Michigan Mountain Biking Association (MMMBA) for the biggest event of the year, EPIC Mountain Bike Global Fat Bike Day 2023! Taking place on December 2, 2023, at Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg, this event is the World Championship of Group Rides. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, all skills are welcome. Don't worry if you don't have a fat bike, bring any mountain bike you have and join in the fun! Pre-register online to save time on the day and sign the required waiver. If you plan to stay for the post-ride barbeque cookout, please make a suggested donation of $10 per person for the meal. Larger donations are also welcome! This year, the MMMBA is organizing the post-ride barbeque, and all net proceeds will go towards maintaining the Mid-Michigan trails. The EPIC Mountain Bike Global Fat Bike Day offers an amazing group ride through the beautiful woods of Sleepy Hollow State Park. The trails are beginner-friendly and incredibly fun, covering a total of 12 miles. There are also shorter distance options available. The ride starts at 10:30am, and before that, Adventure Team Lansing Area will lead a family and kids' ride. After the ride, join the Island Party, sponsored by SPIN Bicycle Shop, and enjoy prizes, recognition for best dressed, and a bonfire at the pavilion. The post-ride barbeque features a delicious meal from Chuckie D's BBQ, including barbecue pork and cheesy potatoes. EPIC Mountain Bike has been recognized as the largest Global Fat Bike Day celebration in the world four times before, and this year promises to be even more epic. The DAAC Benefit Show, featuring Anthony Erlandson, Johnathan Sides, Rosabelle Walker, Izzy Saylor, and Gray Rapidian, will be held on December 2, 2023, at The DAAC in Grand Rapids. Doors open at 7 pm and tickets are priced at $7. Please note that the show is open to all ages and is a substance-free and jerk-free event. The capacity is limited to 96 people, so ticket availability may vary. If there are any remaining tickets, they can be purchased at the door using cash, PayPal, or credit card. The DAAC offers accessible accommodations, including a ramp entrance, seating if requested, accessible gender-neutral bathrooms, free water and cups, and free earplugs. We value feedback from our attendees and are always open to suggestions on how we can improve. Parking options include street parking, the Berean Baptist Church lot, and the Caliber Collision lot after business hours. Please refrain from parking in Quinn & Tuite's lot. The DAAC is conveniently located on Rapid bus route #11 and offers bike parking as well. We have a strict safe space policy, which prohibits smoking, vaping, and consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substances inside the building. Any oppressive behavior, such as demeaning or marginalizing others, will not be tolerated. If you witness any such behavior, please report it to a volunteer.
