To reward and exploit. To destroy and build. Monarchs, dictators, and elites who impose tyranny seek to consolidate power, stripping freedom from individuals to maintain control over societies. They use force and deception to ensure their rules remain unchallenged, claiming to act in the name of the common good while stripping individuals of their freedoms. In contrast, those who seek to use power for good—such as America’s Constitutional Framers—understand that strong societies are born not from force, but consent. Societies built on checks and balances, fair elections, and the preservation of individual rights not only survive, but thrive.Following in the footsteps of works by thinkers such as Alexis de Tocqueville and Frédéric Bastiat, Mark R. Levin’s On Power examines how power shapes history, offering invaluable insights into individual liberty, unalienable rights, and conservative principles from one of the leading philosophers of modern conservatism. About Mark R. Levin : Mark R. Levin, nationally syndicated talk radio host, host of LevinTV , Chairman Emeritus of Landmark Legal Foundation, and the host of the Fox News show Life, Liberty, & Levin , is the author of eight consecutive #1 New York Times bestsellers: Liberty and Tyranny , Ameritopia , The Liberty Amendments , Plunder and Deceit , Rediscovering Americanism , Unfreedom of the Press , American Marxism , and The Democrat Party Hates America. Liberty and Tyranny spent three months at #1 and sold more than 1.5 million copies. His books Men in Black and Rescuing Sprite were also New York Times bestsellers. Levin is an inductee of the National Radio Hall of Fame and was a top adviser to several members of President Ronald Reagan’s cabinet. He holds a BA from Temple University and a JD from Temple University Law School. Information Source: Barnes & Noble | eventbrite

Cultural Experiences
Jeffrey Dyke/Audubon Photography Awards Join us Sunday, June 8, for a brief annual meeting followed by a program, “Raptor Reproduction and Nesting,” featuring live birds! We will gather informally starting at 2:30 PM in the cafeteria of the National Wildlife Federation Building, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, in Reston. We welcome you to bring snacks and drinks to share. At 3:00 PM we’ll have a brief Annual Meeting where we will elect officers and directors. The agenda is below. Our main program will begin at 3:15PM, when Secret Garden Bird and Bees will present “Raptor Reproduction and Nesting.” May I have this dance? Did you know that many raptors engage in dramatic aerial dances during courtship? You may have seen large eagle nests, but did you know that those nests can be as big as six feet wide and four feet tall, and that bald eagles support their chicks for up to 6 months! Do raptors mate for life out of mate loyalty or nest loyalty? Secret Garden Birds and Bees will share some of the amazing things we’ve learned about raptor reproduction – from courtship to mating, nesting to chick-rearing. And you will be able to meet their live adult hawks, owls, and a tiny falcon up close to see some of these adaptations in person. You might even get to take a selfie! Secret Garden Birds and Bees is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization working with wildlife rehabilitators, falconers, naturalists, biologists and beekeepers to share their love of nature and wildlife with our communities. The agenda for the business meeting is as follows: ● Results of the Birdathon competition. ● A brief explanation of NVBA’s budget for fiscal year 2023. ● Recognition of Officers and Board Members whose terms are expiring. ● Election of Officers and Directors of NVBA. ● Invitation to join NVBA’s committees.
