Reading the Land: Ecological Monitoring | 580 W Weber Canyon Rd
Jun 27, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Kamas
NOTE:
This event is made possible by a generous grant from Working Lands Conservation and the NRCS's Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative. Your registration fee supports locally sourced meals each day. Additional funding is available to assist with meal and lodging costs—please contact learn@3springsutah.com
for details.
This course is a deep dive into the identification of the 4 ecosystem processes observed on the land. This course is designed to help managers and citizen scientists understand what consequences their management decisions have on the health of their land.
We will go over in detail how to monitor the surface of the land via the Basic Monitoring Protocol which is appropriate for landowners and producers seeking to see which direction their land is going.
We will also address, in detail, the Comprehensive Monitoring Protocol which is critical for those seeking more scientific results when dealing with government agencies and environmental organizations.
“If you have not ever monitored your land before, taking the responsibility for monitoring your land and yourself should symbolize a significant shift in your whole approach to management. Almost all stock growers weigh their animals at least once a year. When you realize that the stock functions only as a broker in the marketing of solar energy, it makes more sense to “weigh” the primary agent in this transaction—your land.” -Excerpt From Savory Institute Ebook 13 “Monitoring Our Land”
Learning objectives:
Come away with a deep understanding of the observable characteristics of the Water Cycle, Mineral Cycle, Community Dynamics, and Energy flow on the surface of the land.
Be able to observe soil capping and understand the tools to create a more water absorbable surface.
Understand the difference between Leading Indicators and Lagging Indicators it relationship to Landscape Health and Soil Health.
Be able to “read the land” and know what tools can be used to affect change in your given environment.
Come away with the confidence to institute the Basic and Comprehensive monitoring protocols on your land.
Create a personalized feedback loop to proactively be able to adjust your grazing plans and be able to control for changes weather patterns or decisions that didn't go according to plan.
This course has been made possible in part by Working Lands Conservation. Working Lands Conservation (WLC) bridges the gap between science and land stewardship to enhance the sustainability of working lands. Through collaboration, research, and outreach, we empower land managers and rural communities with science-based solutions that benefit both people and ecosystems. Our approach is rooted in relationships, ensuring durable, lasting impacts on the land.

The Grapes Of Wrath Unplugged With Dillon Ryan | 152 Rue Court Street
Jun 30, 2025 (UTC-3)ENDED
Daulatpur Gangadas
After bonding over a mutual love of The Beatles, drummer Chris Hooper
introduced Kevin Kane to his younger brother Tom Hooper in 1977. While still
attending elementary and junior high school in Kelowna BC, the trio began
learning to play their instruments together during regular Friday night jam
sessions in the basement of the Hoopers’ suburban home.
Influenced in equal parts by the British Invasion of the 60s and the DIY attitudes
and immediacy of punk and new wave, the group took the name The Grapes Of
Wrath in 1983, and began working on the songs that would make up their debut
EP (The Grapes of Wrath, 1984) and first album (September Bowl Of Green,
1985), both of which were released by Vancouver indie label Nettwerk
Productions. The band were soon signed by Capitol/EMI for albums “Treehouse”
(1987), “Now And Again” (1989), and “These Days” (1991). These records
spawned some of the most well-known Canadian songs of the 80s and 90s,
including Peace Of Mind, Backward Town, All The Things I Wasn’t, What Was
Going Through My Head, I Am Here and You May Be Right. Thanks in no small
part to the support of MuchMusic, the Grapes enjoyed gold and platinum sales,
with sold out shows at home in Canada, extensive radio play, and several US
and European tours in support of albums that also saw release in Japan,
Australia, and South America. Amid mounting tensions in the band, the group
disbanded in 1992 at the height of their career.
Tom and Kevin resurrected the Grapes in the late 90s, subsequently releasing
the album “Field Trip” (2000) on the Song Corp label, and reuniting for another
series of acoustic duo shows in the summer of 2009 to celebrate their enduring
friendship and the music they had written. The following year, an offer from a
festival for a full band reunion led to the return of drummer Chris, and the
original three recorded “High Road” (2013) - their first album of new material in
almost 22 years - named after the street the Hoopers had lived on when they
first started playing together as kids. They have been playing regularly ever
since and are arguably the longest-running, still-active “original lineup” in rock.
This year, Tom and Kevin are once again hitting the road as a duo to perform
The Grapes’ music in an intimate and unplugged setting, telling the stories
behind the songs and putting the focus on the harmonies and melodies of their
timeless music.

Richmond Clue Solving Adventure – People & Places | Downtown Richmond
Jul 1, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Morchandi
A sinister plot has emerged in the vibrant city of Richmond! A carefully orchestrated embezzlement scheme has resulted in the theft of millions of dollars of city monies that were supposed to fund a new time-sensitive city-wide cultural infrastructure development program called PEOPLE AND PLACES, celebrating the city's amazing multiculturalism.
The antagonists have been apprehended by the RCMP, but they are not talking, and the account number where the funds have been deposited is still unknown. Worse still, a legal loophole means that a rival developer who is allegedly linked to the embezzlers will take possession of the lands designated for PEOPLE and PLACES if the city cannot come up with the money TODAY.
Time is running out, and as a last hope for success, the RCMP have approached teams of renowned cluesolvers to try and attempt a trail of clues that reputedly will lead to the account number. The question is - do YOU have what it takes to solve the clues and save the day?
