are thrilled to bring you the 2025 Public Interest Communications Summer Institute, June 3-5, 2025!
Join university and college faculty, students, researchers, administrators and professionals who want to learn and share knowledge about the growing academic discipline of
public interest communications
. We'll gather on the Georgia State University campus in downtown Atlanta for a day and a half of small-group sessions that will enable you to take a deep dive into issues and talk with our expert facilitators. We will hold a half-day syllabus workshop on Thursday afternoon after the formal program has ended.
The institute offers valuable skills, networking opportunities and new friendships. Whether you are well-versed in strategic communications for social change or new to the field, this institute is for you!
Schedule:
We'll start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, with our welcome reception. Our sessions will run 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. Our syllabus workshop will be from 2-5 p.m. Thursday for those who would like to stay. There is no extra charge for this, but we ask you to

Throughout the JA Discovery Center Summer Camp, kids will have an opportunity to build a fictional business which will include crafting their own product idea, creating a marketing campaign, and even learning how to pitch their business like a pro. They'll get to work with new friends on team-building challenges, discover how businesses make money, and learn the importance of collaboration, mindfulness, and critical thinking. With immersive games and hands-on projects, we’ll mix fun and learning in the best way possible!
It’s more than just a camp—it’s a chance to develop a growth mindset where every idea and challenge becomes an opportunity. Get ready for a summer full of creativity, team spirit, and entrepreneurial adventures!
At the JA Discovery Center Summer Camp, kids will:

Join us for the NCAF 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk in Honor of JaQuetta Garrison. Celebrate the life and legacy of JaQuetta Garrison with a casual run or walk through beautiful Grant Park in Atlanta. In honor of her birthday, we’re raising funds for the National Coronary Anomalies Foundation (NCAF)—a cause close to her heart. JaQuetta transitioned in November 2024. She loved running with her sisters, and there’s no better way to celebrate her spirit than by moving together on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Whether you’re an avid runner or just in it for a peaceful stroll, this event is for all fitness levels. Lace up your shoes, bring your walking crew, and enjoy a meaningful day in community. Event Details: • All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. • 50% of proceeds will go directly to the National Coronary Anomalies Foundation. • The final race location will be confirmed by the end of May, but it will be near downtown Atlanta.
