Folk
As far as defining a genre goes, Tendavillage floats comfortably somewhere in the realm of “Psychedelic Electro Space Funk/Soul /Jazz”. Based in Calgary AB, Canada, Tendavillage showcases a group of passionate, talented musicians ready to step outside of their creative box. Their introductory EP, praised as “Criminally slept on” and a “Future classic” by Toronto’s iLiveRadio, was featured on a host of radio stations and online platforms worldwide, including a stint on the iTunes RnB chart in France. They have since amassed an enthusiastic fanbase across the globe. From the first release of their debut single “Ralph Wiggum”, a track Atwood Magazine described as a song that exists on a plane of involuntary stank face”, the band has received rave reviews. The driving force behind the group is singer/songwriter Kate Melvina, who pens and produces the works, alongside her main collaborator, jazz pianist Jacob Fossum. With their combined influences, from 70s funk and jazz masters to contemporary artists like nu-funk virtuosos Mononeon and KNOWER, Tendavillage contributes their own imaginative sound to the Contemporary RnB/Jazz world.
