Print Club of Rochester & AAFGR Present: Amos Kennedy Jr. — Citizen Printer | Nazareth University
Apr 17, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
East Rochester
Amos Kennedy Jr. has dedicated his life to giving a voice to the voiceless. As a master printer, book artist, and papermaker, his work is both provocative and accessible, using the power of print to spark thought and conversation. Best known for his bold posters, Kennedy's art speaks directly to marginalized communities while resonating with a broader audience. Guided by the rebellious spirit of his youth, he isn't afraid to speak truth to power through his work.
The Print Club of Rochester and AAFGR are thrilled to welcome Amos Kennedy Jr. to Rochester for an exclusive event. Join us as he shares his invaluable experience, creative insights, and powerful perspective. During the event, Kennedy will also unveil a unique piece of artwork created specifically for Print Club of Rochester.
Don't miss this chance to engage with a visionary artist and discover how you can use your own creativity to make a statement that matters.
The event will be hosted in the Shults Center Forum.
Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. (born 1948) is an American printer, book artist, and papermaker best known for social and political commentary, particularly in printed posters. One critic noted that Kennedy is "...unafraid of asking uncomfortable questions about race and artistic pretension." Kennedy creates prints, posters and postcards from handset wood and metal type, oil-based inks, and eco-friendly and affordable chipboard. Many of the posters are inspired by proverbs, sayings, and quotes Kennedy locates or potential clients provide.
He self-identifies as "a humble negro printer" and stuff-maker", not an artist, yet his poignant mix of art and activism has been exhibited in dozens of museums and galleries across the United States, including Poster House, the Brooklyn Public Library, the Library of Congress, and the libraries of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He is recognized as a Glasgow Fellow in Crafts (2015), an Individual Laureate of the American Printing History Association (2021), he received the Outstanding Printmaker Award from the Mid Atlantic Print Council (2022),and the Southern Graphics Council International Lifetime Achievement Award (2024) among other honors.

Adam Ezra Group feat. The Rollin' Rust | The Club at Water Street
Apr 24, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
East Rochester
Welcome To Adam Ezra Group
He takes a month out of each year to visit the living rooms of his fans around the
country...
His band and nonprofit organization RallySound host a free festival every
summer that raised $151,000 for homeless veterans in 2024...
He live-streamed for 500 nights in a row during the pandemic...
They co-produced an album with 163 fans...
If you haven’t connected with Adam Ezra Group yet, these are just a few examples to
help you understand how this underground, Americana songwriter and his bandmates
seem to have popped out of nowhere, establishing a connection with their fans unlike
any other, and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast.
Adam Ezra will joke with you that while the “nowhere” part might be accurate, nothing
has ever just “popped” for this folk musician, activist. Without resources, connections,
or any kind of clue how the music world works, Ezra began playing shows over 20 years
ago. When music venues wouldn’t hire him, he played bars, bookstores, fields, and
parking lots, often raising money for causes he cared about; a practice that grew into his
nonprofit organization RallySound.
“We’d play 5 hours a night,” Adam reminisces, “more often than not, in danger of
outnumbering the audiences we were playing for...”
So how did this band operating so far outside the traditional music world come to win
New England Music Award’s “Americana Act of the Year” in 2023? What could have
happened to inspire John Oates to call Adam and invite him to begin a songwriting
friendship that would lead to John producing their latest release and co-write, “Hold
Each Other Now”? What happened to catch the attention of The Wallflowers, who
recently invited AEG to join them on their spring tour, or SPIN Magazine who recently
proclaimed, “This Independent Underground Folk Band Is Blowing Up Without Selling
Out”?
If you ask Adam, he’ll tell you:
“One person at a time, over many years and thousands of shows, decided to turn their
heads to listen. One person at a time decided to share our music with folks they care
about. That’s always been our story. It’s no fairytale, but it sure makes me proud and
humbled when I look out from the stage to watch theaters full of people singing along to
our music.”
These days you’ll find Adam and his bandmates, Corinna Smith (Fiddle), Poche Ponce
(Bass), and Alex Martin (Percussion), constantly out on the road. If you look at their
tour schedule now, you can buy tickets to see them at festivals, rock venues, and
theaters around the country, but you will also see their tour continuously peppered with
activism and grassroots events; a testament to an artist who will never forget where he
came from, and whose mission is about much more than music.

The Rollin' Rust
is a folk rock group based out of the foothills of Central New York. Led by singer-songwriter James VanDeuson, The Rollin' Rust celebrates the distinguished writing style of a vagabond folk artist, incorporating elements of blues, bluegrass, roots, folk and country. Rollin' Rust tunes have a distinct originality to them; they'll be dropping you off somewhere between your favorite Willie Nelson song and the closet where your mother's rock-n-roll collection still lives... the one she thought she got rid of years ago. James is joined by his bandmates Jim Hearn (lead guitarist) Kyle Dennis, (drums/vocals), and Nash Robb, (upright/elec. bass and vocals)
The Rollin Rust formed in 2021 and has since made its musical mark with efficiency, performing at several notable music festivals including, Borderland Music Festival, the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance, Great Blue Heron Music Festival, Stony Fork Music Festival, Seedstock Music Festival, Brew York, Sterling Stage, Fall Down Music Festival, and many others. The group has traveled to 25+ states, sharing lineups with
CAAMP, Watchhouse (previously Mandolin Orange), The Black Crowes, Sam Bush, The Wood Brothers, Dark Star Orchestra, Ryan Montbleau, Marcus King, Cabinet, Fireside Collective,
Houndmouth, Sierra Hull and more. The Rollin' Rust has directly supported
Grammy winner
Brandy Clark, Donna The Buffalo, Ryan Montbleau Band, Driftwood, Pressing Strings, Argonaut & Wasp, and Hunter Root.
In 2024, The Rollin' Rust competed against 70+ bands for a main stage slot at the prestigious Borderland Music Festival, winning the "Battle Of The Borderland,"
competition.
The Rollin' Rust's debut album, "Road Rats," was nominated for
Best Americana Album
at the
SAMMY Awards
in Syracuse, NY.
The Rollin' Rust tells the noble tale of a rambling group of young dreamers, unafraid to live out of vans, buses, and hotel rooms. Their polished performance, unmistakable comradery, and colorful lyricism tends to leave its mark on an audience... wherever they happen to end up for the night.

* High energy Celtic punk and good ol American psychobilly meet up for this epic sound!
Hailing from upstate NY, Celtic rockers 1916 are an explosive concoction of the modern Irish American Punk movement with an original mix of psychobilly which gives them a sound that stands apart from other bands of the gere.
Starting as an acoustic duo in 2006, singer Billy Herring and original drummer Steve LaDue played the traditional Irish ballads of the Dubliners and Wolfe Tones in the local pubs in and around their home-town of Rochester, NY. They decided to call themselves 1916 to honor and promote Irish history among fans. It wasn't long until they took the music to a new level with the addition of electric guitars, traditional instruments, and a full drum set. Within a few months of trying their new sound, 1916 were opening for the likes of the Dropkick Murphys, Twenty One Pilots, Flogging Molly, Rancid, The Offspring, and New Politics, among other national acts. They have also shared the stage with Jimmy Fallon at a sold out show in Rochester, NY!
Now, years later, 1916 has partnered with Grammy award wining producer Ted Hutt to create their sixth full length studio album, Conscience of Kings, released under the Label Group/The Virgin Music Group! They’re your favorite band’s favorite band. 1916 combines the passion of Irish Punk with the fire of American Psychobilly to create a sound all their own.

Ravines Wine Cellars | Marketview Liquor
Apr 30, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
East Rochester
We are honored to have Morten and Lisa Halgren, owners of Ravines Wine Cellars, present a tasting of their wines at the Marketview Classroom! Ravines’ first vintage was in 2002 and right out of the gate, that Riesling won a medal at the World Riesling Cup. They were one of the first wineries to garner a spot on the Wine Spectator Top 100, and have now been on that list three times. Then came Wine & Spirits Top 100, New York Times Top 10, Decanter, Bon Appetit, Food and Wine and the list goes on. Plus, they now have another label – “Agricolae” wines hail from their winery and vineyards on Keuka Lake across the "ravine" from Ravines. The name is an homage to the hard-working people in the vineyards and fields. They will be introducing those wines as well!
