PUPS PACK WALK | PUPS Pet Club

Apr 26, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Brooklyn
Family Events
Pack Walk at PUPS Pet Club - Dobro Grab your leash and join us for a Pack Walk through Fort Greene Park, corner of Dekalb Ave and Washington Park! Pack Walks are a fun and social way for pups and their people to enjoy the energy of walking together as a group. It’s a chance for dogs to get fresh air, light exercise, and practice good walking manners — all while socializing in a supportive, friendly environment. Trainer Evan Sievers will be walking with us, offering helpful tips for leash skills, socialization, and navigating the city with your pup like a pro. Let’s get outside, connect with fellow dog lovers, and enjoy a little fresh-air adventure together! PUPS PACK WALK RULES 1. Respect each other & listen to your pack leader. Disrespectful behavior will not be allowed, you will be asked to leave if you refuse to follow the rules. 2. All dogs must be licensed, fully vaccinated against rabies, & free from all communicable diseases. If your pup is sick please stay home. Especially if they have kennel cough or any other transmissible bacteria/disease. 3. Bring all essentials: high values treats, water (especially for hot weather), poop bags and your full attention. Please do not bring toys, balls or frisbee. Anything that your pup may become protective, fixated or aggressive over. 4. Dogs must be leashed at all times during walk. Please, no retractable leashes are allowed. A standard 6ft leash is ideal. This will allow you to keep your pup close and under your full control. 5. Owners must ask other owners if their dog can say hi to the other dogs. You must ask if you may touch another person’s fur baby. We have dogs with behavioral issues of all kinds. Some have no issues at all. Always ask first! 6. Owners are fully responsible for their dogs. That being said, if you are not fully comfortable or are unsure if this walk is for you & your fur baby it may be best to seek one-on-one professional advice from a certified dog behavioral specialist. We do not allow aggressive behavior towards your dog. We believe in positive reinforcement training, calm and assertive corrections only. 7. Lastly, this walk is for your fur baby. It’s about setting a day aside to do something that comes naturally to most dogs, to be a part of a pack. Please give you pup your full attention. Information Source: PUPS Pet Club | eventbrite

Works by Holly Borrelli , Jessica Cassette , Heather Cruise , Alexandra Di Castro , Katherine Enoch , Marin Gold , Kayla Goldstein , Kathryn Green , Emmett Higgins , Gemma Leary , Elizabeth Mineau , Erin Slogar , Sarah Kate Stolz , and Amanda Tanner . Arts in NYC proudly presents What has been - what is now , a showcase of works created by the Spring 2025 cohort of Florida State University and University of Florida BFA and BA dance students. As a celebration of growth and individual expression, this collection of works immerses the audience in a world of storytelling and collaboration. Influenced by the multi-faceted arts scene in NYC, the dancers explore a range of artistic mediums in their works, including dynamic movement, multi-genre music, photography, captivating film work, and costuming to address themes of human connection, nature, family legacy, self-identity, spirituality, and home. With the recent passing of Nancy Smith Fichter, the former Chair of FSU’s School of Dance (1964-1997), we honor her legacy and passion for dance through this performance and carry her determination, tenacity, and commitment as we emerge into the professional field. We will forever live by her motto, “do it with love.” Mentored by Arts in NYC teaching faculty Marilyn Maywald Yahel. Special thanks to Gwen Welliver and Ashley Pierre-Louis. Bike the “Last Mile” | Cooper Park

Apr 27, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Brooklyn
Cultural Experiences
This 5-mile bike tour, hosted by Newtown Creek Alliance and the Last Mile Coalition, will explore the expanding infrastructure of commodity circulation, and the real-world footprint of e-commerce, around the Creekside neighborhood of Maspeth. This present condition comes in the context of 200+ years of Newtown Creek transportation logistics, from horse-carts and barges to rails and trucks. The rise of e-commerce has seen a rapid increase in last-mile developments in the industrial business zones, like those surrounding Newtown Creek. These mega facilities bring significant amounts of increased truck traffic to overburdened communities leading to higher levels of congestion, worsened air quality, urban heat island impacts, stormwater runoff, as well as ongoing issues with worker protections, fair wagers, and labor rights. NYC is now working to implement a special permit process to curtail the proliferation of last mile facilities, thanks in large part to the advocacy from elected leaders and the Last Mile Coalition (of which NCA is a member). We encourage those joining to be comfortable bicycling in the City – this route has adverse street conditions and frequent truck traffic. We ask that attendees fill out a liability waiver and photo consent form prior to joining, found here . Please bring a water bottle, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. We will have limited staff in attendance to navigate and provide support. Start Location : Cooper Park End Location : Maspeth Park This program is made possible through generous support from the NYC Green Fund administered by City Parks Foundation. Reclaiming Your Story: Family & Systemic Constellations Workshop | 320 Dean St

Apr 28, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Brooklyn
Family Events
Sometimes the things we struggle with—whether it’s in work, relationships, health, or purpose—aren’t just about us. They’re part of something bigger: the systems we’re part of, the stories we’ve inherited, and the patterns that live beneath the surface. This workshop offers a powerful way to explore what might be holding you back—and what could help you move forward. We’ll do an experiential process to look at what’s often invisible: the deeper roots of stuck patterns, repeated challenges, or places where life just isn’t flowing. Through guided practices and live demonstrations, you’ll get a chance to experience what it’s like to see from a systemic perspective. Whether you’re new to constellation work or looking to go deeper, this session is a chance to slow down, tune in, and begin to shift what’s been hard to name or change. What We'll Do: A fresh lens on work, health, relationships, and more—beyond analysis or mindset Ways to sense into systems, even when you can’t see them Simple practices to help you integrate what you learn into your everyday life Space for your own question or life situation, with guidance on how to explore it This Might Be for You If... You’re facing a challenge that feels stuck or keeps repeating You're curious about what’s really going on beneath the surface of your life You’ve done other healing work, but something still feels unresolved You support others (as a coach, therapist, facilitator, etc.) and want to explore systemic tools You want insight—not just information—and transformation that goes beyond talking No experience with constellation work is needed. All are welcome. What to Bring A question or situation you'd like to explore (big or small—it’s all welcome) Spots are limited to keep the space intimate and focused. Facilitated by Alissa Fleet Alissa Fleet has been guiding people through constellation work for 7 years, creating safe, grounded spaces to explore life’s deeper patterns. With training in Consciousness and Transformative Studies, Alissa brings a mix of clarity, compassion, and deep respect for each person’s unique journey. A prismatic, mind-bending epic about the splintering of a Jewish family from Vienna—exploring the weight of exile and how grief twists our sense of the impossible. Everyone had been survived into different futures and that I would never see any of them again. I could sense this. I would hear them in their separate rooms, within their separate lives, but I would not be able to cross over to meet them. In Rooms for Vanishing , the violence of war has fractured the universe for the Altermans, a Jewish family from Vienna. Moving across decades, and across the world, the novel finds the Altermans alone in their separate futures, haunted by the loss of their loved ones, each certain that they are the sole survivor of their family. Sonja, the daughter, has gone in search of her husband who has disappeared into London; Fania, the mother, is confronted with her doppelgänger in the basement of a Montreal hotel; Moses, the son, is followed by the ghost of his best friend and eventually returns to Prague to make peace with the dead; and Arnold, the father, dares to believe that his long-lost daughter might be alive after he receives a message from an Englishwoman claiming to be her. Through their stories, we come to see how—amid profound loss and the madness of grief—ghosts are made momentarily real. Spellbinding and profound, Rooms for Vanishing explores the boundary between desire and reality; this is a singular work that masterfully considers the possibility of magic, and the dangerous and impossible hope for a different history. Stuart Nadler is a recipient of the 5 Under 35 Award from the National Book Foundation, and the author of two novels, Wise Men and The Inseparables , and a story collection, The Book of Life . His work has been named a Kirkus Best Book of the Year, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Selection, and an Amazon Book of the Year. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where he was a Truman Capote Fellow and a Teaching-Writing Fellow. He teaches creative writing at Boston College and is a member of the faculty of the Bennington Writing Seminars. He lives in New England. Benjamin Anastas is the author of three novels and the best-selling memoir Too Good to Be True . His literary journalism, essays, reviews and short fiction have appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's , The New York Times Magazine , Bookforum , The New Republic , The Paris Review, Oxford American, The Best American Essays anthology and numerous other publications in the U.S. and abroad. He lives in Brooklyn and is a member of the literature faculty at Bennington College. Information Source: Books Are Magic | eventbrite
