Forest Bathing Walk | The Theosophical Society in America
Jul 26, 2025 (UTC-5)
Wheaton Aston
Saturday, July 26, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Experience the healing and wellness-promoting effects of Forest Bathing as you connect with nature on the lush grounds of the Olcott Arboretum at the Theosophical Society in America. Forest Bathing, also known as Forest Therapy, is a practice that supports health, wholeness, and wellbeing through guided immersion in forests and other natural environments. Inspired by the Japanese practice of
shinrin-yoku
(forest bathing), this practice offers potential benefits for body, mind, and spirit.
In Forest Therapy, participants are guided through a series of gentle invitations to slow down, open the senses, cultivate awareness, and experience the environment in ways that foster a sense of wholeness and a deeper relationship with the natural world.
This practice is slow-paced and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Please check the forecast and dress for the weather. If conditions are cool, consider bringing along extra layers or a blanket since we will be outdoors for an extended period. You may wish to bring water, insect repellent, or anything else that will help you be comfortable during the program. If necessary, feel free to bring an outdoor chair or camp stool that you would not mind carrying for a short time.
In the event of severe conditions, the program will be rescheduled.
Beth Bengtson
has a passion for helping people connect with the natural world through knowledge and experience. She is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs and has certifications in Natural History and N-ACT (Natural Areas Conservation Training) through The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. She has worked as an education program guide at the Arboretum since 2008, teaching nature education programs to youth and adults in both lab and outdoor settings. She also works with a volunteer steward group restoring the Arboretum’s East Prairie and leads students and youth volunteers on natural areas restoration projects. Beth has a B.A. in English from the University of Iowa and, before entering the field of nature education, worked professionally as a writer/editor. Wheaton Aston
Since 1991, the Maag Toy Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that started in Chicago and moved to Scottsdale, has raised over $1 million and garnered over 15,000 toys for needy children and teens.
Beyond toys, we have also sent kids and adults in shelters to camps and sporting events they could not afford to attend. After natural disasters in Asia, Mexico, and the USA, we shared stuffed animals with first responders to give to children. We have also donated tech games for kids in Ukrainian hospitals, which might add a smile or two during tough times.
Most of our support to others does not go to large organizations that have development people but to local shelters and people in need, which we learn about from our guests. We have consistently supported the Navajo Nation Veterans’ children who live off the grid.
Help us continue to help kids in need by joining us at Arrow Head Golf Club in Wheaton, for group golfing and dinner.

The Kabbalah of Song (Hybrid Event) | The Theosophical Society in America
Aug 9, 2025 (UTC-5)
Wheaton Aston
Saturday, August 9, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. CT
This is a hybrid event. Join in person or online!
"Where words leave off, music begins. "- Heinrich Heine
Song is a spiritual language that connects us with the ineffable. In the Jewish mystical tradition, nigunim—wordless melodies—are sacred tools for opening the heart, clearing the mind, and inviting contact with the Divine. In this experiential workshop, Rabbi Matthew Ponak will guide participants through the practice of singing nigunim (pronounced nee-goo-neem) in a group setting, while sharing teachings from Kabbalah and Hasidic mysticism that illuminate the spiritual power of melody.
No musical experience is required—just a willingness to participate by lending your voice in collective group singing. With melodies that are simple, soulful, and meditative, this gathering will flow between learning and chanting, head and heart, insight and experience.
If you are not yet comfortable singing in front of others, the philosophy of this workshop is that singing can be a form of practice like meditation. It is not performative but rather an opportunity to harness breath, body, mind, and heart, with a contemplative and soulful spirit. Similar to most other spiritual practices, singing nigunim is personal and non-competitive, with the emphasis on being present, aware, and open to what can emerge. At no point will anyone be asked to sing alone in front of the group.
What You’ll Learn
:
●
Sacred Sound, Deep Roots
: Discover the role of music and melody in Jewish mysticism as a path to inner richness, joy, and transcendence.
●
Singing as Spiritual Practice:
Experience how repeating simple melodies can become a form of meditation and connection to the Sacred.
●
A Tradition to Carry Forward:
Leave with a basic familiarity of nigunim and a few melodies you can bring into your own spiritual life or community.
Whether you are new to Jewish spirituality or an experienced seeker of inner truth, this workshop offers a unique doorway into the heart of mysticism—through the power of song.
Registrants will receive on-demand access to recording(s) that can be viewed for two weeks following the conclusion of the program.

The Power of Soul-Centered Healing (Hybrid Event) | The Theosophical Society in America
Sep 13, 2025 (UTC-5)
Wheaton Aston
Saturday, September 13, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. CT
This is a hybrid event. Join in person or online for a lecture, Q&A, and book signing with renowned author and speaker Caroline Myss!
In this profound and transformative workshop, renowned medical intuitive and spiritual teacher Caroline Myss will offer a soul-centered perspective on health and healing, one that transcends traditional views and invites us to explore the energetic and spiritual dimensions of wellness. You’ll learn how every decision you make is a reflection of your inner relationship with power. Aligning with the power of love, rather than the love of power, can transform your life on every level.
When Caroline began her work in the early 1980s, she believed illness was largely a result of the negative energy we created in our lives. Over time, however, her perspective evolved. She came to understand that human beings are far more intricate than simple cause and effect. Healing is not just about doing the "right" things; it is about how we understand and engage with the deeper truths of who we are.
By the 1990s, she began exploring why so many people, even when given the tools and support to heal, chose not to use them. What she discovered is that healing often comes down to our relationship with power, the power of our choices, the power of our soul, and most importantly, our relationship with the power of grace.
During this interactive workshop, Caroline will share powerful insights into the deeper mysteries of healing, personal empowerment, and our soul’s connection to the Divine. Together, we’ll explore the ways in which grace operates in our lives and how true healing requires us to recognize our place within the great web of life.
This workshop is an invitation to awaken, to reflect, and to embrace the extraordinary grace that surrounds and lives within you.
Registrants will receive on-demand access to recording(s) that can be viewed for two weeks following the conclusion of the program.

Sound Bath Healing & Meditation with Reiki | Advanced Healthcare Associates - Dr. Susie Warden
May 25, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
Wheaton Aston
Come and experience a
Sound Bath Healing & Meditation with Reiki
at
The Agape House
! Join Yolanda Lozano and Tina McDonald for a transformative Sound Healing & Meditation infused with Reiki.
The guided meditation will lead you through the process of release, helping you shed old patterns, emotions, or energetic blockages. Through deep breathing and mindfulness, you’ll open yourself to the healing power of letting go, allowing yourself to find inner peace and balance. The sound healing portion will be a deeply immersive experience, incorporating a variety of sacred instruments. These instruments create vibrations that promote deep relaxation and healing, helping to cleanse and align your chakras and create a harmonious sound bath experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself. You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated, centered, and ready to embrace the next chapter with clarity and lightness. While in meditation, you will individually receive the loving healing energy of Reiki.
No need to bring yoga mats. Because participants will be receiving the healing touch of Reiki (unless otherwise requested not to), you will be comfortably seated or laying on a massage table (first come, first served) while meditating. Feel free to bring water otherwise water will be provided for you.
To enhance the relaxation and stress release effects, Tina will have essential oils available for participants who would like aromatherapy to be a part of this experience. Every participant also has the option of receiving an Oracle card pull at the end of the meditation.
We will also be raising funds that night for St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines, a no-kill cat rescue based in Wheaton (www.stsff.com).
This event is open to all, whether you are experienced in meditation or trying it for the first time. Come prepared to release, realign, and open yourself to the healing energies of sound and Reiki.
Spaces are very limited so please reserve your spot as soon as possible.
