During this 7-day retreat, participants will embark on thrilling outdoor adventures, including hiking, crossing the Arctic Circle, and exploring the mighty Yukon River. They will also have the chance to immerse themselves in the local culture of Wiseman, Alaska. With stunning mountain views from cozy cabins, attendees will have a truly immersive experience in the wild landscape. The Arctic Hive retreat center is completely off the grid, providing a unique and sustainable environment. The cabins are heated with Swedish Nordic oil stoves and have solar/battery powered lighting. The retreat will be supervised by a competent Riding On Insulin CDCES, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Included in the retreat are ground transportation to and from Fairbanks, lodging for 6 nights, dynamic programming and adventure activities, three delicious meals a day, and all the clean mountain water you could want. Additionally, the retreat provides linens, towels, and even juice boxes and fruit snacks. Dietary needs can be accommodated, and there is the possibility of showers during the stay. To secure a spot at the retreat, a nonrefundable deposit of $750 is required. In addition, participants are encouraged to fundraise $2,750 to support subsidies for kids with T1D attending Riding On Insulin ski, snowboard, and surf camps. There is also the option to pay $3,500 in full at the time of registration and opt out of fundraising. If $1,000 more is fundraised (for a total of $4,500), the teen's flight into Fairbanks will be included.
