Beverley Folk Festival Presents: Ruth Notman
Plus support from Iona Wild
RUTH NOTMAN
Folk singer/songwriter, Ruth Notman, first came to prominence in 2006 when, aged just seventeen, she was a finalist in the BBC Young Folk Awards. In 2007, the Nottingham 18-year-old released a debut album Threads which, as BBC Radio 3’s Verity Sharp declared, “caused quite a stir” making the folk scene sit up and take notice of this young performer’s incredible voice. Threads went on to receive plaudits in The Independent, The Guardian and Mojo and in 2009, Notman released her second album The Life of Lilly to similar acclaim before taking a musical sabbatical to go to university.
Ruth returned to the UK folk scene in style in 2019, collaborating with Sam Kelly and Damien O’Kane on the album ‘Changeable Heart’ (Pure Records), reintroducing audiences to her knock out voice and unique brand of acoustic folk which inspired a generation of young singers and musicians.
As ever there will be a warm welcome from the St Nicholas' Church team, and their famous reasonably priced bar will be serving craft beer, good wine and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks.

Make 'Bad' Art Club - July - Silly Portraits | 6 Landress Ln
Jul 4, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Beverley Park
Bad Art is still Good Art!
Have a giggle & experiment with your creativity in a pressure free, relaxed environment. Embrace mistakes & express yourself creatively, let go of any judgement & make some terrible art that relaxes your nervous system. Accessible for all, come with an open mind :) this is your chance to channel your inner child & create for the joy of it. Process art!
Your brain releases 'feel-good' chemicals when making art... like dopamine, serotonin & oxytocin... potentially boosting well being.
We'll start with some easy warm ups to help you loosen up. Moving onto mark making on paper & card using different art mediums. Play & have fun, learn you don't have to be good at art to enjoy it. We'll then create silly faces from our collages, the dafter the better. You can take these away to display at home to remind you to embrace imperfections.
This in-person event is perfect for a girl's night or evening with your pals, perfect for making new friends too. All skill levels welcome. No artistic experience required! Light refreshments supplied.
All art supplies included, but bring your own sketch book if you have one.

An Evening with Luke Concannon and Stephanie Hollenberg - Live in Beverley | The Monks Walk
Jul 24, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Beverley Park
Luke Concannon
and Stephanie Hollenberg - Live in Concert in Beverley
‘Luke is one of my three main hero’s along with Van Morrison’ Ed
Sheeran
Renowned for his magnetic live performances and ‘direct-from-the-heart’ songs, #1 UK chart artist Luke Concannon has something special. Performing with his wife, the classically trained singer Stephanie Hollenberg, the duo present an evening of musical passion and audience participation that will become one of those gigs that live long in the memory. Somewhere between the Celtic soul of Van Morrison, and the deep lyricism of Leonard Cohen.
“His humanizing songs, way of drawing in the whole room and activist love are so needed in our world today” Alastair McIntosh, writer, academic & activist.
"Concannon dazzles …. folk music with a little extra something." Dancing about Architecture
