The first exhibition presented by the Balloon Museum dedicated to Inflatable Art is a group show where each work represents an interpretation of air through the ingenuity of international artists. Pop Air first opened to the public in Rome in December 2021. Inspired by the Pop Art movement, when artists drew inspiration from mass and commercial culture, Pop Air adds a dimensional and architectural element, ensuring a unique experience that will characterize all the Balloon Museum’s exhibitions.

This exhibition offers a new, revealing look at the world-class Portland Collection of art. The museum will be filled to the brim with fascinating art and objects, a giant cabinet of curiosities. There will be silver and tapestry, paintings and jewels; art that has come home after a long loan to a prestigious national gallery, and stunning star items that visitors know and love – such as Michelangelo’s ‘Madonna of Silence’ or the pearl earring worn by Charles I at his execution. A highlight of the display is a Picture Gallery, stacked with Tudor and Jacobean portraits – many of which have never been seen publicly before.

Family, art, and entrepreneurship converge in the story of three visionary Peranakan women from Indonesia – Nyonya Oeij Soen King, her daughter-in-law Nyonya Oeij Kok Sing, and her granddaughter Jane Hendromartono. From the 1890s to 1980s, they produced impressive batiks in the renowned batik centre of Pekalongan on Java’s north coast. This exhibition explores the lives and works of these women, revealing how each became a batik master in her own right, and how they responded to the rapid political, cultural, and economic changes of their times to run a business that produced great art.

When the topic is street art, there is no way around him: Banksy is probably the most famous and mysterious graffiti artist in the world. Banksy's Art: No Limits showcases more than 200 works of the artist, such as his original art, prints in different materials, photographs, sculptures, etc.

Angin Cloud imagines the rural industrialisation of a hill side from Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Pairing Jrai wood sculptures and suspended pillars that recall farming structures for growing pepper vine, the installation references ‘angin’, a Jrai concept for the dynamic potential for change found in water and air.

City of Others: Asian Artists in Paris, 1920s-1940s is a groundbreaking exhibition that examines the art history of Paris from Asian perspectives. The exhibition compares the experiences of Asian artists in Paris during a dynamic period of time, featuring works by Asian artists like Foujita Tsuguharu, Georgette Chen, Lê Phổ, Liu Kang, Pai Unsoung, Itakulla Kanae and Hamanaka Katsu.

New Art Museum Singapore presents Wonders of Nature, the museum’s first immersive experience for children of all ages running from 5th April to 5th October 2025, designed to highlight the importance of natural environments through fun interactions with art. Featuring a dynamic range of artworks, from AI generated projections of giant ancient fishes to alluring animal sculptures, digital gameplay, art playground and beautiful paintings, Wonders of Nature invites both children and adults to embark on an exciting journey, following the green leaves and heart unto five versatile paths—Canyon of Cuddles, Animal Kingdom, Ancient Aquarium, Garden of Senses, and the Imagination Room. Whether through awe-inspiring visuals or interactive experiences, Wonders of Nature creates a space where the magic of biodiversity comes alive for all.

Diplomacy and Desire: Basoeki Abdullah in Singapore is an exhibition of artworks by Indonesian painter, Basoeki Abdullah (1915-1993) who is known for his paintings of stalwart statesmen and attractive women. The highlights of the exhibition are two paintings that the artist gifted to Singapore. Diplomacy and Desire focuses on the artist’s relationship to Singapore and his time living in Singapore when it achieved self-government in 1959. The exhibition considers the relationship between Basoeki as a high-society painter and his agency as a regional cultural producer who was keenly aware of the geopolitical value of his artworks. The exhibition encourages audiences to see this prominent portraitist anew and reflect upon the ‘power’ of beauty and art in post-colonial Southeast Asia.

Fernando Zóbel: Order is Essential is National Gallery Singapore's first solo exhibition on the transcontinental artist, thinker and art patron who was active in Asia, North America and Europe. Born in the Philippines to Spanish parents, Zóbel shaped a language in international abstraction that instilled the vital beauty of order in the unpredictable creative process. Running from 9 May – 30 November 2025, the exhibition highlights Zóbel’s unique artistic practice and contribution to modernism globally. The exhibition is an iteration expanding on the Zóbel: The Future of the Past exhibition, which was held at the Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain (2022) and in Ayala Museum, Manila, Philippines (2024).

The event celebrates Singapore’s 60th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Singapore Cable Car Sentosa Line. It will take place from 23 May to 31 August 2025. Nyonya Reimagined is an immersive storytelling that weaves a tapestry of nostalgia and heritage, inviting visitors to rediscover the rich Nyonya culture through vibrant installations, projection artworks, performances, workshops, and curated Nyonya dining experiences across Sentosa. The exhibition celebrates Nyonya heritage as a cultural identity for Singapore.

Fistful of Colours: Moments of Chinese Cosmopolitanism brings together artworks from the late Qing Dynasty to the present moment to explore the social history of art, with a particular emphasis on the situatedness of Chinese ink works amidst its political milieus. With reference to the concept of Chinese cosmopolitanism as proposed by scholar Pheng Cheah, the exhibition connects the artistic and scholarly advocation embodied by the artists presented, telling a story of the social life between artists and society through both modern and contemporary experiences of the overseas Chinese intellectual and mercantile communities, their pursuits of Chinese modernity, and their collective cultural commitments at the dawn of globalisation.

In celebration of the theme of Crop Diversity and its significance in cultural and agricultural history, this exhibition is one of over 30 exhibitions happening simultaneously across the globe. It is co-organised by the Botanical Art Society (Singapore) and the Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) as part of the second Botanical Art Worldwide Project, in conjunction with the Worldwide Day of Botanical Art celebrated on May 18.Members of the Botanical Art Society (Singapore) have submitted botanical artworks exploring Heritage Crops—traditional plant cultivars not used in modern, large-scale monocultural agriculture; Crop Wild Relatives—wild species that can enhance cultivated crops or are foraged wild plants; and Ancient Crops— plants cultivated for centuries in their original form. Each piece has been carefully selected by a panel of expert botanists and botanical artists based on scientific accuracy, artistic merit, technical mastery, and overall impact.Many of these plants hold deep personal meaning for the artists, evoking memories of home, family traditions, and cultural heritage. Some recall the familiar ingredients used in home cooking, while others are tied to crops central to traditional festivities.Beyond their personal significance, these plants are valued for their roles in food, medicine, and textiles, representing a rich genetic diversity often overlooked in modern agriculture. By showcasing these lesser-known varieties, this exhibition underscores the importance of preserving plant biodiversity while celebrating the artistry of botanical illustration.
