Joslyn Castle & Gardens presents Architecture on Tap, a celebration of the historic communities and people that make Omaha unique. Dr. Stuberg is a retired from the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He continues to be involved at MMI as an emeritus professor. He is currently serving as a Board member at Joslyn Castle & Gardens and has a great passion for Omaha history and architecture. He and his wife just moved out of the Blackstone neighborhood a year ago after purchasing the Storz Mansion in 2007 and restoring the historic home. Skateboarding, like many action sports, has historically been male-dominated, which can make it intimidating for some to enter the scene. Popsicle Skate Night is designed to create a welcoming, supportive space where girls, femmes and nonbinary skaters, rollerbladers and scooterers of all ages (who feel comfortable in a femme-centered space) can build confidence, community, and develop their skills in an environment that prioritizes their lived experience. The more diverse the skate community, the stronger and more creative it becomes — this night is about growing the culture and making skating accessible for everyone! Architecture on Tap is a happy hour history hang-out happening Thursdays in July! Grab a beer from Infusion Brewing Company in the historic Joslyn Castle Carriage House and then settle in for a low-key lecture presented by a local expert. Our final stop on our tour of historic Omaha is Little Italy. Omaha's Little Italy is a historic neighborhoodsettled by Sicilian immigrants in the early 1900s, located south of the Old Market district. It became a thriving community known for its strong family ties, Italian businesses, and cultural traditions. While the area has changed over time, remnants of its Italian heritage, like restaurants and the Sons of Italy Hall, still exist. We are thrilled to welcome a staple of the Little Italy community as our expert speaker. Louis Marcuzzo grew up in the neighborhood and is the longtime owner of Louie M’s Burger Lust .
