Practical and Anatomical Considerations to Bridle and Bit Fit | Centaur Biomechanics
Jun 15, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED

Practical and Anatomical Considerations to Bridle and Bit Fit
Dr Russell MacKechnie-Guire,
Diana Fisher and
Lucinda Stockley
Centaur Biomechanic Training and Research, Dunstaffanage House, Moreton Morrell, Warwickshire, CV35 9BD
09:30 – 17:00 HRS BST
Compared to correct saddle fit, bridle and bit fit is often overlooked. The bridle is positioned over sensitive anatomical areas, and incorrect fit can cause focal pressures. Equally, the bit is positioned within the inter-dental space, and horse’s oral conformation can vary, meaning that correct bit fit, for the individual horse is equally as important. This 1-day course will discuss some of the latest evidence associated with bridle fitting, followed by an interactive bridle fitting session, here delegates will get to hands on and learn what to look for, when determining bridle fit. The day will conclude with a head dissection, which will give a detailed insight on the location of key bridle elements, and their proximity to underlying structures.
The objective of the course is to provide information to attendees that can be used within their own work whether as a horse owner, coach, therapist, saddle fitter or other professional.
Theory:
Evidence based bridle fitting
Practical:
Hands on bridle fitting, what to look for when assessing the fit of the bridle
Head dissection in relation to the bit and bridle
£250 inc VAT and booking fees.
