Nature Tots is an indoor and outdoor adult and toddler group run by Staffordshire Wildlife trust. Each week has a different theme; we could be bug hunting, marvelling at magic or exploring a story. All activities are designed to encourage your toddler’s engagement with nature. So why not join us for crafts, trails and games. Suitable for children aged 6 months - 5 years This week our theme is Summer Party. To celebrate the summer let throw a nature tots party! From smelly cocktails to nature crown party hats come and celebrate with us.. This activity takes place in our Learning Hub building as well as the surrounding outside areas. The Jailbird 10k will take place in Dorchester during the annual Sandpiper Festival. The race will start at 9am on Saturday August 9th at the Dorchester Consolidated School and will you take on a scenic route down Water Street and along the beautiful Memramcook and Petiticodiac Rivers, ending at the Johnson's Mills Shorebird Interpretive Center. The challenging route includes a mixture of flat ground and hills as well as both pavement and gravel. The first 40 racers will get an exclusive t-shirt! Explore Kingcombe Meadows which is teeming with wildlife. The nature reserve is managed as a working farm, grazed by cows, sheep and Exmoor ponies, without the use of modern agricultural practices. The result is a patchwork of fields of unimproved flower-rich grassland, broken up by thick hedges, streams, ponds, ancient green lanes and wooded areas spreading up the valley either side of the River Hooke. This river supports a wide range of wildlife - we will be exploring the minibeasts that live in the river! We will stop at a beautiful stretch of the River Hooke and use nets to sample the invertebrates living in the water. This event is suitable for families. Tickets are £4 charged per child, and accompanying adults go free. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please book a ticket for all members of your party. All parties must purchase a child's ticket. Please be aware that there may be areas of uneven, steep, and muddy ground - please wear appropriate footwear.
