You’re here to see. When we were kids, we were tiny explorers. Everything around us sparked curiosity. Playing was like a universal language, it helped us figure out the world. We shaped modelling clay, doodled endlessly, made up stories, and lost ourselves in fairy tales. Every bit of play was like unlocking a new version of the world, and of ourselves.

Forest Bathing in Shaw Wood, Oakerthorpe | Shaw Wood, Oakerthorpe

Jul 12, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Bangkok
Cultural Experiences
Bonnie will be your Forest Bathing Guide for this gentle walk in Shaw Wood Originating in Japan where it is known as Shinrin Yoku, Forest bathing is a gentle, mindful walk in the woods. Along the way there will be guided invitations to help you to slow down, take notice and connect to nature. We do get asked many times, and the answer is no ... no swimming costumes are required for forest bathing! We will be immersing ourselves in the nature of the woodland. There are often muddy puddles, but there will be no swimming involved! Although the session lasts for 2 hours, the distance travelled is minimal as we slow down and invite you to join in some simple mindfulness exercises that will encourage connection to the woodland around us and help us to step away from our routine day-to-day lives. Research has found that this sensory connection brings many benefits to our mental and physical health. Benefits include strengthened immune system, lowered blood pressure, improved cardiovascular health. As well as feelings of relaxation and calm, lowering any feelings of stress or anxiety. These mindful, nature connection walks are for adults only (16yrs and over), and whilst we love seeing dogs enjoying the woodland, we please ask that no dogs are brought to these particular walks. Bear in mind that it can get quite chilly in the woods even on sunny days, so layer up and wear sturdy footwear for the uneven and sometimes muddy paths. Please be aware that there are no toilets available during this session. HOW TO FIND US: The entrance to a small parking area can be found on the B6013 at Oakerthorpe, between Woodside Grove Camping and Caravans and Hollybank House Care Home. There is a metal gate which will be opened 30 minutes prior to the session. Please park considerately so that everyone can fit in! If you find that there are no spaces left, there is a small layby across the road from Woodside Grove just a short distance away, or park at the kerbside next to the metal gate. Parking in any of these spaces is at your own risk. Bonnie will be there to meet you. REFUNDS: Please be aware that we are unable to refund tickets with less than 7 days notice. For refunds issued with more than 7 days notice, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite booking fees. To ensure safety for all participants and leaders, a session can be cancelled or postponed by Woodland Connections at very short notice due to forecast high winds or thunderstorms. If a suitable alternative date is not available, we will refund the full cost of the session. We will advise you if this decision has to be made either the evening before or morning of the session.
