As a Medium Nikki Kitt aims to provide evidence of life after life by getting links from loved ones in spirit for people in the audience with amazing accuracy in descriptions, personalities and all sorts of personal information.. to give both confirmation and comfort.

During this session, gallery director Laura Porter will be discussing her experience with different kinds of funding, talking about what's available for artists now, and how to start to put together a funding application, including project planning, aims/goals, budgeting, how to line up partners, and the different requirements for different funders. If you are an artist or community project and you are interested in learning more about funding.
Laura Porter, founding director of Studio KIND, is a sculptor and curator based between North Devon and South London, having graduated from UAL with an MA in Sculpture. Laura has exhibited extensively across the country, and has had a solo exhibition at The Plough Arts Centre and was in the 2016 Broomhill National Sculpture Prize. In 2021 she led the British Council funded project ‘Reciprocal Space’, and has been awarded the a-n Time, Space, Money funding.

If you have ever wanted to try your hand at oil painting and simply don't know where to start, this beginners workshop with Amy Jobes will help unleash your creativity. Amy will guide you step by step to create an expressive landscape oil painting. This class will cover basic traditional techniques and methods, whilst helping you to let go of feeling anxious or precious about your work. This includes: Composition ideas, how to start using a sketch and ground, how to create depth with tone, working from dark to light, muted vs saturated colours, impasto mark marking. Please bring with you: Oil paint colours Titanium White (I use Alkyd Titanium White to speed up drying time)Lemon Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Hue Light (I use Cadmium Hues as they are less toxic)Cadmium Yellow Hue or Permanent Yellow DeepBurnt SiennaUltramarine BlueCerulean BluePhthalo BlueCadmium Red Hue or Scarlet (I use Cadmium Hues as they are less toxic)Alizarin CrimsonBuff titaniumIf you are just starting out I recommend purchasing this set of oil paints from Cass Art as it has warm and cool versions of each primary colour. Amy Jobes is a professional landscape artist based in North Devon. She is self-taught and has been selling work since she the age of 15. Since moving to Devon with her family in 2013, Amy has concentrated on creating abstracted oil and mixed media paintings inspired by her local beaches and moorlands. Although her work is based on traditional methods, Amy takes an intuitive approach to painting expressive and emotive pieces created from the heart. There will be a lunch break, so feel free to bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, there are some food stalls just outside in the pannier market, or coffee shops and bakerys along Butchers Row. We recoment you wrap up warm, although our workshops are held insdoors the gallery tends to be on the colder side in the winter months, so please do make sure to have afew on layers.
