HazMat Technician 470 – Hybrid Certification Course The HazMat Technician 470 program is an advanced, hybrid training course designed to prepare emergency responders to analyze, plan, and implement offensive strategies at hazardous materials incidents. This course builds on the foundation established in HazMat Operations 470 (required prerequisite) and provides an in-depth, hands-on learning experience aligned with NFPA 470 standards. Participants will begin with self-paced online modules, covering advanced topics such as: Chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards Air monitoring and detection equipment Hazard and risk assessment Advanced product control and leak sealing Tactical decision-making and incident action planning Specialized PPE and decontamination procedures After completing the online portion, students will participate in a three-day in-person skills weekend, taking place July 25-27.
