Cabin Conversations is a fun and educational speaker series brought to you by Wood Buffalo Pride. Each month we invite an entertaining expert in their field, to speak about interesting 2SLGBTQ+ topics.
Kathy is a biology teacher but before starting teaching worked in the field. She is passionate about destigmafying sex assigned at birth and raising awareness about Intersex identities. This talk will explain how science goes beyond the binary and how biology supports more diversity then jsut male and female.

On Sunday October 6th, bring the whole family out and help raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society and the breast cancer cause! In addition to the CIBC Run for the Cure (5km or 1km walk or run) there will also be a Kids Fun Run at 12 pm. Tickets for the Kids Fun Run are by donation with 100% of the proceeds collected going to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Kids Fun Run will have two age categories (2-5 year olds, and 6-10 year olds). Spots are limited and all kids registered will receive a beautifully engraved medal for participating! With 1 in 8 Canadian women diagnosed, breast cancer continues to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women. With your support, we can show Canadians affected by breast cancer that they’re not alone. The funds raised through the Kids Fun Run will be invested in the ground-breaking breast cancer research that is leading the way in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care, as well as funding compassionate support programs for those affected by breast cancer. In his hometown in India, he received recognition for his outstanding wall painting for public awareness, winning an award for the best in the city. He is dedicated to using art as a means of community engagement, cultural expression, and creative transformation. About the Artist in Residence Program Arts Council Wood Buffalo’s Artist in Residence Program and Suncor Indigenous Artist Program create space for emerging and established artists to spend time immersed in our region, creating work inspired by the environment, culture and people of Wood Buffalo. Both Resident Artists mentor local artists, with the Suncor Indigenous Artist prioritising Indigenous Peoples in the rural communities. Each year, the Resident Artists engage with the community during their stay, through workshops, events, and other opportunities to connect. The residencies culminate in a final celebration and showcase of the Resident Artists’ newly created work. The Programs are open to artists living in Canada and working in any discipline, with the specific activities tailored to suit the creative practices of the selected artists.
