Sass, a renowned children's book author, will be present to read from and discuss this heartfelt novel that explores themes of family, friendship, and identity. Set in the backdrop of a pandemic and challenging times, the story follows thirteen-year-old nonbinary protagonist Shai as they navigate the ups and downs of starting public school for the first time. As Shai's plans take unexpected turns, they learn valuable lessons about acceptance and embracing life's unpredictability.

A. J. Sass, known for their acclaimed titles Ellen Outside the Lines and Ana on the Edge, invites you to be a part of this special event. The author grew up amidst the scenic beauty of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and now resides in the Bay Area with their husband and two feline companions. Michael Leali, an award-winning writer and educator, will also be present to contribute to the engaging conversation.
