Taking a woodland path we climb out of the gorge via steps and then a meadow, to reach Workhouse Coppice and the jitties of Broseley wood. After exploring several of these we loop up into town, exploring the town and the High Street before dropping towards Jackfield through woodland. We loop around Jackfield then return to Ironbridge via the old railway. Grade of Walk: Moderate Pace: Leisurely Terrain: Mixed - Quiet roads, gravel tracks, woodland, field paths some sections may be muddy! Steps and Stiles: Steps up and down, with a long flight of steps up at the start of the walk, no stiles Dog Friendly: YES Dogs to be kept on leads unless agreed with walk leader. Walk Leader: Jane Warman Specific Walk Information General Information for Walkers All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event, parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services. Medals are available for anyone completing 25 or 50 miles over the challenge weekends and will be presented on Sunday 29th September at The All Nations Inn Madeley at 16.30 p.m.

Iron bridge was the first iron bridge located on river Severn. Due to the limited metallurgical technology at the time, the whole bridge was made of gray cast iron. There was no steelmaking technology at the time, and the gray cast iron was brittle, so now the bridge is only for viewing.
