Brighton and Hove Events in November 2025

What do Dharma teachings say about beauty? And what is your relationship with this idea? How might an inquiry into beauty serve your practice and help you to navigate wise action?
In this day long of practice we will reflect on beauty, its relevance to the path in general and its place in approaching 
Soulmaking Dharma
Opening our imaginations, hearts, minds and bodies to whatever is our unique relationship with beauty, we will inquire into what might hinder and what might support a fertile and onward leading relationship with this idea and experience.
The day will include formal mediation practice, reflection and inquiry, starting with samatha practices and opening more to Soulmaking teachings and practices as the day unfolds.
As well as the inquiry into Beauty and the path, this day may serve as a glimpse into Soulmaking Dharma for those who are interested, as well as a support for those already familiar with these teachings.
This day long retreat is suitable for anyone who has had an ongoing mediation practice within a Buddhist context for at least three years. No previous experience with Soulmaking Dharma practice is needed nor with Rob Burbea’s approaches to the Dharma, however an affinity and previous experience with Rob’s 
'ways of looking'
 
approaches will be a support.
Catherine McGee 
has been teaching Insight Meditation retreats internationally since 1999.
She is a member of the Gaia House teacher council, teaches yearly at 
IMS
 and 
BCBS
 and is a guiding teacher for 
One Earth Sangha
 - an online sangha exploring Buddhist responses to the climate and ecological crises.
Between 2014 and 2020, she collaborated closely with Rob Burbea in shaping and teaching A Soulmaking Dharma.

Had my first date here with my partner and we hadthe best time. An amazing aquarium with abeautiful atmosphere, lights and gorgeouscreatures! I love animals and fish and seeing themhere was wonderful. Staff were lovely and veryknowledgeable. The place was clean, easy tonavigate and extremely ambient and beautiful. We went on a Thursday afternoon so was pretty quiet!

Brighton Palace Pier

One of the best piers in the South of England. There is lots to do with tons of seaside rides, fun arcade games and food. Highly recommend catching the sunset here and if you&rsquo;re lucky you might catch the starlings dancing at dusk, I didn&rsquo;t know they do this and it was the most spectacular striking and stunning natural phenomenon I had seen, it was mesmerising. Highest chances of seeing the starlings dance is between November-March, we visited in early March
