Join artist and author Janice Mason Steeves as she presents her book "Bloom: On Becoming an Artist Later in Life" at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo. This event, part of the Gather at The Gallery series for the 55+ community, will take place on January 11, 2024. Steeves will share her personal journey and discuss the experiences of older individuals who have turned to art later in life. Many of these individuals had a desire to become artists when they were younger but were discouraged by parents or teachers. Now, with the freedom and stability that retirement brings, they are rediscovering their creative passions. Seeking meaning and personal growth, they are exploring the world of art. Steeves, a painter with 40 years of experience, understands the challenges and joys of this artistic journey. Through her own exploration of abstract art, she has gained valuable insights that she shares with her students, predominantly women from the baby boomer generation. Inspired by her own dream, Steeves wrote "Bloom: On Becoming an Artist Later in Life" to inspire and support others on their artistic path.
