Celebrate 50 years of Shorinji Kempo in the UK at the BSKF 50th Anniversary Taikai in Guildford. Hosted by the British Shorinji Kempo Federation (BSKF) and international guests, this special one-day tournament will feature exciting demonstrations, choreographed performances, and stand-up sparring matches. Past BSKF alumni and members of the global Shorinji kempo community are invited to attend as spectators. The event will take place at Surrey Sports Park on June 22, 2024. Shorinji kempo, a Japanese martial art founded in 1947 by Doshin So, combines striking, grappling, restorative massage, and meditation into a practical system of self-defense and personal development. With a mission to instill skills and values of standing up for others and promoting mutual happiness, Shorinji kempo has spread worldwide since the 1950s, reaching the UK in 1974. Competition entries are reserved for BSKF and IKA members by invitation only. Register in advance through your regular branch to participate in this historic event.
