Yi-Bing Chu 朱亦兵 was a prize winner at the 42nd Concours International d’Exécution Musicale in Geneva, after graduating with a Premier Prix from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied under the tutelage of Maurice Gendron, one of the greatest cellists of the 20th century. Yi-Bing Chu was the first Chinese cellist ever to win a prize in a major international cello competition. He served as principal cellist in the Basel Symphony Orchestra, Switzerland, from 1989 to 2004. Yi-Bing Chu was also a guest principal cellist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich and a member of the Cologne Philharmonic Cellists in Germany. Yi-Bing Chu was a visiting professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He is the first professor of Chinese nationality since the establishment of this prestigious institution in 1795. Jiuqu Flower Street is actually a section of Lombard Street, located between Hyde Street and Leavenworth Street. This section is a steep slope, but it is designed to be eight hairpin bends, and the road is full of flowers. If you need to shoot the effect of Jiuqu, you must stand at the low position of Leavenworth Street. Chinese people can drive by themselves in the western United States where San Francisco is located. If you will drive in San Francisco, you may wish to experience the feeling of driving through Jiuquhua Street.
