The darkness of Elizabethan melancholy, the prevalent mood of an age. Shadows. Dark figures. Emerging, expressing longing, grief and suffering. Moments of peace glimmer momentarily. The prevailing darkness and foreboding mood swallows these fragments of light dragging us down into the depths of sorrow and longing. 'Shadows that in darkness dwell' is a cycle of works composed for period instruments and electronics created collaboratively by composer Timothy Cooper and Ensemble 1604 exploring the life and music of the English Renaissance composer John Dowland. Tim says: ‘I imagine the character of John Dowland, an emotional, volatile and private man with a mysterious past; as a musician working in the court of the Danish King, Dowland was also as an English spy. Much of his music is dark, shadowy and melancholic and my pieces explore and exaggerate this. The pieces are not about subterfuge but explore the very darkest depths present in Dowland’s work and life.’ Ensemble 1604: László Rózsa (Recorders). Rory McCleery ( Counter Tenor) . Bristo Square is relatively wide, with a gravel road that looks very old, crowded with tourists, and pigeons flying. The overall atmosphere is nice and relaxed, and the surrounding buildings are also great.

This Reid Hall Musical Instrument Museum ranks high on Ctrip&#39;s museums list. I came here specially to check in. It really lives up to its reputation. Many ancient musical instruments have only been seen in movies or posters. Many of them have traces of use and were donated to the museum by the public. They are very collectible. It was a very interesting day~
