The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is designed to enrich biology learning and teaching, particularly at A-level and key stage 4, through the experience and excitement of real-world bioscience. ABE provides schools and colleges with 
free
 
CPD training, equipment loans and all the consumables needed to run molecular biology practicals.
Course 1 covers 
restriction enzyme digests, ligations and gel electrophoresis.
ABE is an international programme, and the University of Hull is an established hub.
Each new school/college needs to book places for TWO people, one teacher and one technician. Trainee teachers may book a single place.
The training programme consists of the following:
Introduction to the programme and supporting resources
Hands-on training with the equipment
Lesson planning and integration of the programme with the taught curriculum.
Health and safety considerations
Question and answer sessions with facilitators
Training in setting up equipment and reagents required
Practice of key techniques
Troubleshooting and support from ABE technicians
