Keeping Time is a short film by Darol Olu Kae, an artist and filmmaker born and based in South Los Angeles. It ruminates on the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra (the Ark), an avant-garde jazz group from South Central active since 1961, defined by its malleability and its musicians’ allegiance to pure and nuanced jazz forms, as established by its founder, the late composer and pianist Horace Tapscott. Los Angeles Blacksmiths were the first artworks we viewed and they were very impressive. They depicted figures in various undertakings, including one with a heavy load on his head, which illustrated many aspects of life. Kendell Carter&rsquo;s High Frequency installation showed a golden planter. Roy Ferdinand&rsquo;s Colored Waiting depicted a lost man waiting at a bus stop. Many of the works depicted modern life. Jimmy Lee Sudduth&rsquo;s New York and Sam Doyle&rsquo;s St. Helena&rsquo;s Black Merry Go Rond and other selected paintings attracted attention. Robert Howell&rsquo;s Little Animals and Dominique Moody&rsquo;s Ancestral Praise House were great mixed media works. Hip Hop Commercialization was another exhibit. Likewise, a video of some of the introductions was being recorded.

I have been to Disneyland Hong Kong, Legoland Dubai, Warner Bros. Paradise Dubai, Ferrari Park Dubai. I went to Universal Studios today. I feel similar to Disneyland and Warner Bros. Paradise. They are all used for famous movies. They are basically roller coasters. Or 3D 4D rickety, hair dryer, rain, and recreational facilities that go around, there is no freshness after sitting a few.
