Darning 101! Everyone will bring an item of theirs that they would like to darn and after a tutorial, we will each work on our own item for the remainder of the class with instructor supervision. This class is a beginner's class, but it will help to have BASIC hand sewing skills. This class will also teach people how to DIY darning mushrooms out of glass jars and various household items.
If you have a darning needle and/or a darning mushroom/egg, please bring it so we can teach you how to use your tools!
About the instructor, Marlee Blue: 
Marlee has been mending clothes for a number of years. They are passionate about sustainability and keeping things out of the landfill. They work in landscaping and so their clothes are in constant need of mending, which they've learned to do skillfully and efficiently.
Our sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. Please choose the level that best fits your family’s income.
Children are welcome at some classes with their parent or guardian on a case-by-case basis, either as a student or as an observer. If you would like your child to attend a class with you, please email info@seattlereconomy.orgwith their age and experience. Let us know if they will be a student or an observer, the name and date of the class, and we will determine if it is appropriate.
ACCESSIBILITY: 
Much of the NE Seattle Tool Library interior is wheelchair accessible.  All entrances have ramps that may exceed a 5 degree slope. The all-gender restroom is quite small and not ADA compliant. 
Non-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events, however attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.

GETTING THERE:
By transit: Served by King County Metro bus 
route 372
 stopping along Lake City Way NE at NE 98th St.  
Route 61
 stops at NE Northgate Way & 23rd Ave NE and is a ½ mile walk from the tool library.
By bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the tool library, and you are welcome to stow your bicycle inside the tool library during your visit.
Car parking: There is a gravel parking lot that fits about 10 cars, and an asphalt parking lot that fits 5 cars. There is no ADA accessible parking.

You can walk to the Seattle 520 Bridge from Bellevue, as shown in Figure 1. There is also a beautiful park and parking lot here. If you like to walk across the bridge, you can reach Seattle. If you like to take the bus, you can also do so. The bus station is just below the parking lot. There are many buses and the waiting time is not long. It is very convenient.

Especially when it&rsquo;s such a famous public university like the University of Washington. Gary Locke, former Microsoft chairman&hellip; they all graduated from UW. Bill Gates&rsquo; father, a well-known lawyer, once taught at its law school. Bruce Lee also studied here, and it was where he met his wife.

Later, I visited UW&rsquo;s Suzzallo Library&mdash;often referred to as the real-life &ldquo;Harry Potter Library.&rdquo; It grandeur rivals that of the Boston Public Library. The UW School of Medicine also ranks extremely high, consistently alongside Harvard and Stanford. Its programs in clinical medicine and public health are also highly ranked.
